Tried searching for a solution to this problem, but couldn't find an answer based on the key words I was using...

Regardless in Quick Combat, Single Missions, or Campaigns and regardless if I reset keyboard defaults, use combat key commands (A, R, H, S) or FS/CFS1 commands (SHIFT+7, etc), I cannot get my wingmen to respond when pushing the relevant key commands.

Nor does the text appear on screen.
It had in past, but for some reason it stopped and I cannot figure out why.  I even re-installed the game.

I still cannot communicate with wingmen.

If I am missing something in the settings, I cannot see it.
Any suggestions?

And to reiterate, I am pushing the correct buttons... in fact in addition to the standard ARHS and the SHIFT +7thru0, I pushing all the other buttons, and reinstalled the game, and cannot get wingmen communication.

Thanks,
AC

Perhaps you need a converter. WW2 communication was analog and you're using digital equipment. http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/whistling.gif" rel="gb_image[nice_pics]" title="...">http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/whistling.gif" name="signat_img_resize_3" alt="..." title="..." border="0" style="display:none" />
You've already tried what first came to mind. You may have to fly WW1 until we find a solution. Of course, they could hand gesture to their wingmen (to the enemy, as well, but those were different gestures).

Cool

First, during the game press the Alt key and in the drop-down menus make sure that your radio communication and status messages are turned on.

Second, don't expect much from your wingmen.  Even when ordered into the fight or to attack a target they often seem to ignore your commands.  Poor AI performance has been one of the weak points of CFS2 from the beginning.   There are some tricks you can use when building missions to try and improve their performance but there are no perfect solutions.

Iäm not disagreeing with Coyote but most of the time the Ai are misunderstood. This are prop planes that we are talking about and their reaction time is sometime a bit slower than we would like them to bee.

I saw you wrote you installed CFS2 with the FS/CFS1 commands. Thats the root of your problem.Uninstall and reinstall with the Key CFS2 command instead of the CFS1 command Keys.

Uh... unfortunately, as I had typed in my initial post, "regardless if I reset keyboard defaults, use combat key commands (A, R, H, S) or FS/CFS1 commands (SHIFT+7, etc), I cannot get my wingmen to respond when pushing the relevant key commands."

Nonetheless, the problem was solved by the in-game ALT menu -> Radio Communication suggestion.
Interesting that this does not appear in the settings pages... or if it does, it did not find me...  Wink

Thanks !

My Fox Four colleague Tom Sanford wrote some interesting tips on getting the best out of CFS2 missions. Not sure if this will help. http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2kwfaq2.htm

As a follow-up to the article Hagar mentions, I have had reasonably good luck using a combination of the Split and Attack commands in conjunction with using the targeting brackets.

I'll split my flight as we approach then bracket the first target I want them to hit.  I give the "attack" command and wait until they acknowledge.  Once they do, I bracket a second target and again give the "attack" command and wait until the rest of the flight acknowledges.  Then I am free to attack a third target on my own or with whatever wingmen stay with me.

Using this technique I have successfully struck three ground targets simultaneously. It isn't foolproof, but spliting, bracketing, and then giving the attack commands does seem to help.

Iám glad you found the solution to your command problem!

Listen to Coyote his our mission builder guru. If you want to know what his talking about. Press the Shift Dial Key and the T Key at the same time you will able to scroll through the tactical display from AC to ships and ground objects and vehicle.

The rest you will figure it out!

If not come back.
