So if any of y'all read my previous posts, you'll see that I've been having trouble with my traffic in FSX, or lack there of...
I tried World of AI and Project AI (although I couldn't get Project AI to install). I was not impressed at all with WOAI... it's a great idea except that none of the airplanes actually move... they all just stay parked at the gate.
WOAI actually seemed to make my in air and taxiing traffic even less, frustrated with that I removed all the airlines I installed, and just started playing with the standard traffic settings... what I found was very interesting...
We all know that the settings in FSX are capable of exceeding the performance of almost any computer (as the scenery and graphics settings are increased the framerate decreases, but remains at its maximum for which the computer can keep up with). Traffic is no exception... and if you have all of the traffic maxed (ie Airline, General, Ships, Boats & Cars) FSX will try and keep them even although your computer probably will not be able to reach their true maximum values...
So if you want to increase the amount of airplane traffic, you should keep the airline and GA traffic settings maxed or near max (Say 90%), but REDUCE the Ships, Boats & Cars to something like 15%. Now instead of keeping everything even, FSX will try to make the airplane traffic 6 times the Ship, Boats & Cars... You should see a major increase in airplane traffic compared to when you had all the settings maxed. I've also noticed that there still will be a lot of Ships, Cars & Boats too... It's all about how FSX weights the settings.
Why bother with the add-ons?
