Wowzers... Shocked...!

On my way back from Mr. Sainsbury's Superstore today on my Motor-Bike, in the pouring rain, I spotted a black Mercedes 300 SL (open top) Le Mans Racing Car, complete with its competition number on the bonnet, pulling out of our local housing estate.... Shocked...!

Now you don't see too many of those cruising around your Housing Estate...(in the pouring rain)... Roll Eyes...!

I tried to find a link to a Photo' of the actual model...but failed... Cry...!

Brought back fond memories of my open, 1-1/2 Seater, 1931 Brooklands Riley 9 Racing car...(in the pouring rain!)..

Paul...(Motor-Bikes now...and still getting wet!).... Grin...!

Did you mean the 300 SL Roadster? Stirling Moss won the 1955 Mille Miglia in one like this.

...

PS. Oops sorry. It was the 300 SLR.

That looks like the Model Doug, (the grille in the first Photo), but in black, complete with its competition number painted on a white roundel on the bonnet.... Wink...!

...amazing sight...a blast from the past..!!

Paul... Smiley...!

...I nearly crashed my Bike into the car in front, trying to take a peek at it... Embarrassed...!

..For me, the alternative to the "E-Type"...

...the beautiful, sleek, "D-Type"...>>>>

...trouble was, the E and D Types had a Monocoque construction, (no chassis), and turned into irreparable rot-boxes over a time... Cry...!

Paul.... Cool...!
