OK, now I am just confused...why exactly should I buy one over any (most...) of the others?

What separates FTX from GEX (and UTX!)? Will UTX and GEX be obsolete once FTX has covered the planet?

And what separates FEX from REX or Active Sky? Will Active Sky and FEX be obsolete when REX comes out?

Visit the product webpages, each one is different.

I doubt it will cover half the planet. It's been two years since the release of fsx yet we've only got the lower third of Australia right now. Even if it did cover the whole world, you'd need to spend $5000 doing so.
