Yup!... Good old RAF Syerston. Can't beat it...... For gliding that is...

I'd love to have seen Syerston 64 years ago - with ears reverberating to the sound of dozens of Merlins.

It would be immense! The base (well... what's left of it) has so much character. Sometimes I can just imagine a pair of Lanc's roaring down the runway on a calm summer evening when were putting the gliders away. It's like a little time portal to the past. It's a great place to fly!

Cranwell is a really nice place isnt it? Did you go inside the college? Amazing interior!

Havent been gliding yet with cadets. I sat in the vigilant once but weather called off the takeoff.

When I went there the other month I just thought it was great. Maybe times that by the amount of weeks you have to stay there, but it is still a grand ol' place Grin
