... if there is a new combat flight simulator to be released which will take advantage of the wonderful graphics of todays systems?

I ask because i currently have crude designs for 3 types of cockpits.

1. The twin turbo prop
2. the cessna single
3. a ww2 / early jet fighter cockpit

the more i think about it i think it would be more fun to have the fighter cockpit.

I have been juggling the idea of building a simpit for a long time, and i want one of top quality, but before i begin investing time and money into such a project i would like to know what is over the horizon  Undecided

Hiya,

I'd say that IL-2 in its current iteration is the best WW2 prop combat sim at the moment (it includes some early jets now as well).

http://www.pacific-fighters.com/en/home.php?skin=S2

The same team that produce IL-2 is now working on a Battle of Britain based sim (Storm of War) - should be out later this year or early next - the IL-2 community is expecting enormous things from this game which promises all sorts of features, including accurate weather and air dynamics, etc.

Oh, and I'm no jet jockey, but I hear good things about Falcon 4.0, too.

Chocks away!

Did you buy the early IL2? Or forgotten battles and its expansions? And most of those shots are from Pacific Fighters, wich in turn does look a little better then the others.

Yes, it is the oldest of the bunch, the trees dont look that good in any of the full series, but the planes look great, and the combat is fantastic!
