Am I missing something? My understanding it is 1024 wide max and 150kb per shot for a total of 600kb per post. I know we all exceed that total by a little at times but most try to keep it under 600kb. I have noticed lately that a few members are not paying to much attention and going way over these limits. I'm not trying to be a hard-nose, but rules are rules and you should try to abide by them as close as possible. If you want to post more than four shots per post resize them to stay under 600kb total. Enough said. Also note that the 600kb total is not spelled out in black and white in the guidelines.

It might be a good idea to add (600kb total per post)

It's 600kb per
thread
bob, some members (and Admins
) are on dial-up or a slow connection and the page can take an age to load.
It was recently upped from 500kb per thread but more emphasis was put on the single image limit of 150kb as the new width guidelines (1024) along with the 50% image limit increase negated the need for high compression so more quality shots could be posted.
A good point raised though.

Yes, I'm aware of everything that you are saying. What it says at the upload site is "Please do not post more than
600K total of files
in any
one
thread." I'm just saying that some posts lately have been way over the size and total weight limits. I suppose it is none of my business, but what I feel is that the rules are meant to be followed by everyone. I just thought it would be good to remind some of the newer members. I'm done. I'll shut up.

They aren't "RULES" Bob ...... they're "
guidelines
" and those "
guidelines
" don't always apply to everyone...
For clarification .... just ask Pete
I'm sure he'll let you know who they don't apply to

Of course they are 'guidelines'.
If a thread is of particular value - such as a tutorial - the 'rule' will not be applied. Greater good.
Totally slack rules means everyone abuses & site becomes a pain to use.
Like life in general - common sense - initiative - value --etc, take precedence over black & white 'rules'
Overall for general screenshots it makes things a lot easier for everyone if the majority stay within the guidelines. A few of us have been otherwise engaged recently with real life stuff ... some have been missed ... no biggy ....

I guess I was just being to picky. I also go over 600k by a little once in awhile, but I do take the time to check my totals before I upload. You are right. It's to petty an issue to worry about.

Now Bob, just for you, as a special consideration, I will personally monitor your image uploads and check that you are within the guidelilnes..... of course, if I remember, that is....

Shut my mouth. I just knew something like this was going to happen. And I know better to let sleeping dogs lie.
