OK, so I am confused. Huh I was told that DirectX10 was out. There are even several videos on YouTube.com that say they are DX10. I have all the gear to run it. I also have FSX Deluxe with the Acceleration add-on. The DirectX website even shows DX10 on it. But when I click to download the latest version of DirectX all I get is the download for DX9.0c. I take it that DX10 is not out yet?
I apologize for my ignorance, but I have spent the last couple months relocating for my job and have been out of the loop.
Is DX10 available? If not is there any speculation as to when it will be?

Why can't I get too it from the DirectX website then?

I go to this website;
http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/AboutGFW/Pages/directx10-a.aspx

I click on download and it takes me to this page;
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a...

Which tells me;
The Microsoft DirectX® End-User Runtime provides updates to 9.0c and previous versions of DirectX — the core Windows® technology that drives high-speed multimedia and games on the PC.

What am I doing wrong??? Sad

Sorry for the trouble. As I said, I've been busy with life and am finally getting settled in. Saw that DX10 was available and was stoked. Now I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Maybe it is DX10??? I just assumed the file would have been 10.xx.xxxx you know... Thanks for the help anyway. lol I guess I'll just leave it as is and check back here later. I can't seem to find anything newer. If this is DX10, then I am somewhat dissapointed in all the hype surrounding it. Again, thanks for your time... Wink

Type "dxdiag" into the search function in Vista and run the program.
That will tell you which version of DirectX you have.

You have to select "DX10 Preview" in the FSX display settings to get FSX in DSX10.  There's usually a set of DX10 settings in game options for whatever game you play.

Good grief! Talk about the "blind leading the blind..."  Roll Eyes

DX10 requires four things:

1. Operating system = Vista (any version, DX10 is "built in")

2. Software driver = Videocard driver supports DX10

3. Hardware = Videocard with DX10 support

4. Software program = Game has DX10 support (FSX+Accel or FSX+SP2)

MYTHS:

Vista uses DX10.
    FALSE! Vista itself is a DX9 application.

DX10 can be added to WinXP.
    FALSE! DX10 requires changes to the kernal that are only present in the Vista operating system.
