Took a trip to the camera shop this morning before work, and basically made up my mind about what SLR I will buy. My decision kinda suprised me. Saturday is the day.

Rebel XTi, because I have one...
I stand at my point concerning the Nikon d40 and d40X. d40 is only 6 Mp and the d40X is way to pricy for it's abilities. They aren't bad cams, but they have no onboard AF-engine, so you're restricted to more expensive lenses.
The Olympus should also be very good, the kitlenses are highly recommended. But I didn't like their feel and look, but that's personal.
Just go for the most MP's and abilities your budget can buy.
Cheers,
Omag

No, no, no! Megapixels are the last thing that you should be thinking about! They only start to really make a difference if you start wanting to print pictures out the size of your front door.

Just so he knows. It's not me, we may have our differances but I'm happy to make them known that it's me saying it.

I agree, but you should read the whole sentence... "and abilities your budget can buy". Basically, if you're on a low budget, than a Pentax K100D Super and a Nikon d40 will do just fine. But if you have a bit more to spend, do it to get an even better camera.

Go for the Kodak Brownie..........
..........especially if you need to ask what to get........
On the other hand, Kris has presented some good hardware search information........
Firstly, everyone is limited by their own budget, set what you can afford as your limit,........
Second, get as many feature/resolution as your budget allows,.........
Finally, go for the personal feel. No one else matters in this area !

With regard to this, .......
It can become important if you just want to capture "just the shot" and not worry about image quality for that certain subject. Higher resolution will allow you to present a larger image on screen since you are limited by the actual resolution of your output. Print output is much higher and so for a lower res on-screen you'll be able to view a larger image......( example: if you print 300dpi and have 72 dpi on-screen, your on-screen image will be approx 4 times larger)
Print quality is also enhanced by higher resolution once you go to a good service bureau to get your images printed.

If you have any old K-mount or M42 lenses around, get the pentax Kris suggested (native K mount, fits any M42 with adapter and no side effects), otherwise choose what you want
Russian planes:

Of course you didn't. You would have to be a complete nutcase to use another profile to insult me
We actually have fewer differences than I make it appear. I make a big deal out of it to be funny. It is funny though, the fact that everything you say, I have a strong counter point.
It is clear whoever the hell this Piper Cub guy is, is an anti-social emo-punk. I mean did you see his profile pic?
