I was away from December 19th through the 24th with my wife & kids at Disneyland in Florida.
Had a really nice time. Weather was great, the amusement parks were not crowded and the flights there and back were so smooth.
We left KMCO on the morning of December 24th at 7:15. We had to be up at 4:30 to get check out and get to the airport on time.
Flew AA MD-80 there and back. On the way down it was fully loaded, on the way back in was 25% full!
The pilots & crew were in a real festive mood. The pilot got on the intercom and said..
"OK people, we need ton get this jet up to New York, back to Orlando and then to Fort Worth Texas before 5pm tonight,
we have families also. Santa has informed us that if we fly real fast, we will not have to divert to California.
So if you do not mind, sit back, buckle up and hold on as we are going to give this old jet all she's got! Once we are at our cruising altitude,
feel free to sit wherever you like as nobody seems to be flying today. No dancing in the isles and egg nog will be served shortly! Thank you for your cooperation... Flight attendants prepare for take off..." Needless to say the kids and everybody else on the plane got a good laugh.

The pilot was not kidding about giving that jet all she had!
The flight down was 3 hours and the flight back was only 1 hour and 50 minutes!
I guess an empty jet, non crowded skies and a good tail wind also helped  Wink
I was back home by 11:30 that morning!

Glad to hear you had a good trip.  Disney was a blast even at my old age, I was a kid again!!

Looks like you were leaving at a good time as it looks like the weather was not so great.

More great shot!!  you even caught a Evergreen 747 in the background!!

So Dave, the captain couldn't get rid of you any quicker could he?  Grin

That's some serious speedy flying!

The MD-80 was actually the first plane I ever flew on ( Alitalia - Brussels Rome). I quite like the model!
