Showing a nice shallow depth of field there though Kris, gotta love those long lenses  Cool

Did you try changing the AF point?

To bad it's too far away from the spottingplaces. It's in a sorry state too. The plane is standing there since several years and the engines are missing...

Cheesy

Woo, my advice works, must note for posterity  Grin

I find that the 9 AF points are most useful for ensuring that I have adequate depth of field to get all of a subject in focus. For example I took a group photo at the weekend, and I set the focus point on the face of the front row of the group. Because the light was poor the aperture was wide open, giving minimum depth of field. When I did a test shot the people in the second row were soft......so I switched to all 9 AF points and only those AF points on the front row were lighting up when I focused. I stopped the aperture down from f4.5 to f10, and this meant that all the AF points on both rows of people lit up when I half-pressed the shutter.

This in turn significantly reduced the amount of light entering the camera, so the shutter speed dropped. I put it on manual and upped the shutter speed to 1/40 at 43mm, and used diffuse flash to light it up. I told people to stand still and got a result I was happy with.

Best thing about digital, you can try again there and then, worst thing is that subjects get bored quickly  Grin
