New Gallery Gates Concept

Hi, wanted to see what everyone thinks.
Please leave your opinion, or simply vote in the poll… - if you vote for no.3 please give your ideas on how they might work better.
If you voted for no4 and 5....well....I guess I asked for it with my feeble-minded attempt at humour Roll Eyes

The Gallery Gates concept is waning in popularity, and not getting many votes or nominations. Heck, I often forget to nominate anyone…unforgivable! Part of the reason may be that it’s hard for freeware or even FSX payware shots to compete against a well crafted edited piece…

How about a change?:

New Concept =

Best of Freeware January 2008
Best of Payware January 2008
Best of Edited January 2008

How will it work? Well, there will be one thread, running for a MONTH. You can nominate up to 3 shots of your own for the month, of any type. You many nominate any number of other people’s shots. This way people who feel ‘public spirited’ will be able to nominate a ton.

With each shot you post you put the label F, P or E (Freeware, Payware, Edited)

At the end of the month the judges will choose 3 of each type (F, P and E) and send their choices to Krigl. Obviously it will be more work for them (and me) but I think the results will be worth it -
3 polls at the beginning of the next month…3 “Best of” gallery sections, one for each type….fairer competition…more pics in the gallery, more nominations.

i like the idea, but running it for a mont may seem a bit long Undecided

, also some people could abuse the system where you can nominate as many other people shots as you like, i dunno Undecided

Great idea K, and as the poll is indicating, most agree. If you'd like some fresh artwork, a little more relevant that the current header, let me know. I'd be happy to put something to-gether.

Brilliant idea... this'll solve the one big problem I've always had with the gallery gates - too many great shots, which do I nominate?

Alright - it looks like most people who care favour the change

Tom07 - your point is taken, we'll limit it to five shots, of which three maximum can be yours.
However, once a month for 3 polls is enough... and don't forget the Judge's choice will still be weekly.

Clipper - yes! Some funky artwork will be great.

Gallery Judges - haven't heard much from you, hope you don't mind the change

You'll have to pick 9 shots once a month instead of 3 every 2 weeks...more work, but the polls will be fairer so I think it's worth it.

So, the next Gallery Gates (for the end of December) will be the last one. The new-style comp will begin in January 08!!
