I'm sure this has been covered ad nauseum, but would someone please be kind enough to tell me how to correct this issue?

A new AFCAD should fix the problem, it did for me at Frankfurt Main Wink

P.S, Is this Add-on scenery? If so, it is probably an AFCAD issue.

Thanks, it is default scenery. Was never an issue until I started adding piles of new AI.

The problem is with the scenery the parking places are not set correctly. This is a easy fix all you need to do is to open the airport with AFCAD and move the parking places to the corect place. Be sure you check the AFCAD help file out as it will give you the correct parking codes to use for you AI. Once done just save the changes and that should solve the problem.
One other note when you go to open the airport it will tell you if it is stock or a changed airport
