Another Reason never to buy from Abacus (Read 997 times)

Okay, I bought a Boeing 787-8 from Abacus, and then when I was cleaning out my comp today, I uninstalled it because it really didn't work well on my laptop, but it did well on my other comp. So, when I installed it, it gave me a surprise, I couldn't use FS2004 anymore! Every time it loaded up, it wouldn't load past 0% and it gave an error that FS9 had to close. So I uninstalled FS2004 and re installed it, and it worked then.

But, really, when people say don't buy from Abacus, don't buy from Abacus.

Generally, I don't like the Abacus products, except FSDS of course.
For example their premium collection is very expensive for the low details and many missing characteristics.
If have tried some of its demos. I also have Fighter Pilot (in CD-version), the f-16 and f-18 are good, the F-15 is still ok, the tomcat is horribly like another plane! The cockpit is not a tomcat cockpit!!! They just placed the gauges where they thought it's most ergonomic to place em! And the Cockpit has a HUD like a Gripen!!! They should know that the Tomcat's HUD is built into the front window!!!
But, however, I don't know about the other products...

My tipp: Install it to an empty folder, then copy&paste to your flightsim directory. This helped me often with bad installers and silly products.

i dont use abacus because i really wont buy from them with all the bad reviews, but as for you, if you want to fly stuff like f-16s go get falcon 4.0, its  the most realistic thing out there when modded, just make sure to get the original falcon 4.0, not allied force if you want to use mods.

only payware i have gotten so far was the old fs scenery enhancer for fs 02, that was decent, now im looking at  a bunch of payware for fsx, primarily global 08, fex, fgx, and a track ir

Well not that all of Abacus' products have been great and all... but forums all over the place saying Abacus is this abacus is that... well i think it could hurt their feelings Embarrassed Especially when trying it behind their back, that is even worse. I don't think that starting a forum about Abacus in a negative fashion is the best way to go about it.  Undecided

I am sorry you had to see this Felix Sad

I'd think that you probably screwed up your uninstall.  I've not had a problem installing/uninstalling most programs/add-ons, from Abacus and others, and I do a lot of that, especially when beta- testing.

You talk about Abacus as if they were some bunny rabbit...Okay well, Abacus has the best models ever for FS98...I don't know how they can live with the fact that their models are such low quality...I was actually looking at their 787 and even on the ground, the "wingflex" makes the wings higher than the cabin...Highly unrealistic... Roll Eyes

I will agree with the fact that some of their products have been good such as FSDS and the Flight Deck Series...There maybe a few others but I am no inclined to go rush out and buy them... Wink

Perhaps they should make better models then. Or not charge for them.

Abacus have never been famed for their aircraft add-ons. However their many other bits and bobs have always been first class. I know Abacus are working hard to address certain shortcomings and provide better products for their customers Wink
Personally I'd be lost without FSDS and that is arguable the best design add-on for FS (secret project is still underway) Wink

Yes, abacus' aircraft are far from good. But FSDS is first class.  Smiley
