In my  fs9, video replay and instant replay work fine in both cockpit and spot views. But in FSX, they only run smoothly in cockpit view. Switch to spot view, which I much prefer, and the replay is horrible - massive jerks and stutters. [Otherwise, my FSX is stutter-free.]  Can anyone tell me what governs replay quality, and whether it can be adjusted?

FSX introduces new views which affect playback

make sure the external view is set to LOCKED SPOT and see if that does not make it better

Switch to locked spot view, that will fix it.

Thanks, people. Sounds hopeful, and I'll give it a try.
