Not a huge collection of aircraft, but some good 'uns...

     


Never seen one of these before: a Douglas Skywarrior, aka "Whale".

     


Another new one to me: Lockheed S-3 Viking.

     


It was very hard to get decent photos belowdecks, but here's a few good ones... first, a control station in the boiler room. The docent in charge there had spent quite some time down there when Intrepid was in service, and he had a lot to say about the huge 500-lb. steam-turbine system use to propel the ship.

The officers' wardroom was fancier, but I decided to post this pic of the "dirty shirt" room instead.
Not bad, really...

One of the best things about this museum is that for the most part you get the feeling that the crew is there somewhere- not much has been changed.
