I added the FS2004/FSX YF-22A Raptor Package to my 2004 aircraft folder and it works great. It also says that it is for FSX so I installed it to my aircraft folder in FSX and it also works great but with one exception. It has overwrote several of my aircraft thumbnails where you click to choose to fly them? The other aircraft that it has overwrote are still in the thumbnail you just can't fly them. It has the name of the YF-22 wrote underneath the other aircraft. I also noticed several other aircraft that are avalible to download do the same thing. Does anyone know what is going on ? Is there something wrong with the aircfg. folder in the download that causes this? I have added a lot of aircraft to my simulators but only had problems with a few and most of those didn't have thumbnails in the downloads.
Thank You, echo54

It just worked for me but I did notice that the installer is meant for FS2004 only. You need to install into an empty folder and copy the files by hand over to FSX otherwise you will end up with the aircraft folder in the wrong place. In FSX you put the aircraft folder into the "Simobjects/Aircraft" folder. Otherwise it works OK for me other than the flight dynamics. It flies OK but isn't very nimble for a fighter jet. Must be due to the FSX flight dynamics but it took me 10,000 ft. for a simple loop.

Yes I did that .I always put my downloads in a empty folder first. it worked great in both simulators 2004 and FSX but it overwrote some of my thumbnails. The 2004/FSX YF-22A Raptor program needs thumbnails to work right in FSX and show the YF-22A where you choose your aircraft.
There is one other problem . The afterburner not showing right but I can fix that.
Thanks for your help,

That's quite a mystery then. The thumbnails shown in the "Select Aircraft" screen are inside the texture folders for each airplane. All I did to install the F-22 was drop the
DSB YF-22A Raptor
folder into the Simobjects/Aircraft folder. Doing just that there's no way it could overwrite something in another folder.
What aircraft aren't working? I tried several but I may have missed the ones you are having trouble with.
Also, have you tried uninstalling the F-22. Does that return the sim to normal?

Yes I have uninstalled two different times. Everything goes back to normal when the DSB YF-22A folder has been deleated. I do not see any thumbnails in the YF-22A Raptor program folder where the textures are. I have also downloaded this zip file twice. Are you saying that your YF-22A Raptor program download had the thumbnails in it?

No the F-22 doesn't have any thumbnails. It was made for FS2004 which used a different method to select aircraft. I was just wondering how it could overwrite files in a completely different folder. The F-22 folder is self contained so it shouldn't overwrite anything. Definitely has me stumped. Which airplanes aren't working when the F-22 is installed?

Ok, I got it working. I didn't use the auto.exe I manually installed the folders where they go but I had to make thumbnails for eachYF-22A aircraft and put them in the texture folders. Now all my thumbnails match what it says under them. I used a freeware program called Easythumbnails. I knew the YF-22A download said it was for 2004 but it also said that it was for FSX . The only way that I got it to work right was to make the thumbnails for the YF-22A aircraft. It worked great in FSX with no problem except it messed up 13 of the aircraft thumbnails by renaming . It had some of my other aircraft to where I couldn't choose them to fly because they had the names of some of the YF-22a under them.
thanks echo54
