its been a while since i last visited, but i have a question.

i recently upgraded my CFS2 with modern aircraft and weapons packs, but the air-to-air missiles is the same as unguided rocktes, but thats not the question.
my question is, is it possible to modify those standard rockets into time rockets?
and if so, how  Cool

thanks in advance.

current sims:

CFS2 in basically a World war Sim. It mimics Combat Aviation fairly well up to the Korean war. Other than that you are on your own. My sujggestion for you is for you to ilook nto the Modern weapon file and try to find for a time limit number limit and play around with it. Another suggestion is for you to in the CFS2 AC download section and look for a Download call AF Kamkazee and see if you can use the same method they use but instead of planes you can use missles. I'am sure if try hard you are probably going find a answer to your own question.

In cfs1 you could make timed rockets by hitting "CTRL + 3" I think. I can't remember if that will work in cfs2.
Have a read through the help folder (F1) I think.
cheers

Kind of funny, disappointing and sad when one remembers that LucasFilm's 1990 sim Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe had timed rockets. Undecided

Find the .dp file for the rocket in the "objects .dp" folder. Then go down to the "misc_data" section.
It will look something like this:

[MISC_DATA]
unit_family=4
category=37
min_speed=50
cruise_speed=210
max_speed=910
max_weight=730
weapon_type=8

If you notice, the section "weapon_type" is set to "8" that is the correct setting for a timed rocket. Most CFS2 rockets are set at "6".

That's the ticket.

Also, if you have a CFS1 install, you will find a timed-Air2Air rocket as a payload for the FW-190 for use against bomber formations.   I used it many, many times back in the day.  Wink
