is there any way you can get the airplanes you downloaded to be traffic?

Yes. Get Traffic Tools v2.02 and read the excellent manual that comes with it. It will explain how you create AI traffic.

Generally you should use aircraft designed specifically for AI use as they are easier on frame rates. Flyable aircraft are designed with much greater detail and can eat up system  resources.

If/when you have further questions on the subject they should be posted in the Adding Aircraft Traffic (AI) & Gates forum.

I would think twice about using flyable aircraft for AI as it can have a big effect on FRAME RATES depending upon the air craft.
  I strongly suggest you use aircraft made for AI for traffic.
