I have noticed that in some commercial airport
packages there is moving ground traffic around the
airport and airport aprons.I use AFCAD and
EZscenery when creating new airports and would like
to know if anyone has created moving ground 'ai'
traffic. If so, how is it done and are there any
tutorials on the subject?

Thanks

Ivor

Ivor,

I'm guessing there are 2 possibilities:

Create animated scenery, which is beyond the capabilities of EZScenery, Afcad or myself..   Tongue

The other is creating 'ai traffic'.  You  create an invisible airport using Afcad and then flightplans for a 'flyable' vehicle. At departure time the vehicle will 'taxi' to the 'runway' where it will eventually disappear (because it can't takeoff), to reappear at their next departure. . There is no real limit on the length and and shape of the taxiway so you can have the traffic meandering throughout the airport.

If interested, you can download Holger Sandmann's [urlhttp://www.simviation.com/fs2004scenery13.htm]FS2004 AI Ships[/url]. Though the readme discusses creating ai ship traffic the principles will also apply to ground traffic.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.          Igor Sikorsky

You know....you can just rip up a to-do list.

I am reasonably certain that in order to have animated ground scenery you have to either use ground AI traffic that can not fly or use a program like GMAX to create animated ground traffic.
I MUST CAUTION THAT IF HAVE NEVER USED A PROGRAM LIKE GMAX BEFORE TO GO BUY SEVERAL LOG HAIR WIGS BEFORE TRYING IT  Grin Wink

A further question on this subject.

AI aircraft land at an airport and taxi off the runway and to the gate presumably as directed by ATC with no input, as if on autopilot when on the ground, following the AFCAD taxiway links. How does this work, is it built in to the config of the aircraft?
If this feature were accessable then it would be possible to program AI ground vehicles.

Thanks
