Singapore Airlines website is carrying a press release stating that their first A380 will be handed over at Changi on 15th October 2007. The first revenue flight (tickets via ebay - really! It's a charity auction) will be on 25th October to Sydney, returning on the 26th.

Singapore Air finally published A380 seatmap:
http://img.singaporeair.com/saa/en_UK/images/company_info/eot/fleet_info/380/A38...
471 seats, including 12 Suites, 60 Business Class seats and 399 Economy seats.
Scheduled services would occur between Singapore and Sydney on Flights 220 and 221, starting 28th October. This replaces a 747-400 which has served the same route with 12 First Class seats, 50 Business Class seats and 313 Economy seats. Before the scheduled services, one unscheduled return trip is arranged on 25-26 October 2007, with tickets sold for charity except about a quarter reserved for VIP guests.

Reading the feedback of buyers on ebay, it would seem there are a lot of unhappy customers before the flight has even left the ground.

Don´t know. Qantas is definitely planning to fly between Melbourne and Los Angeles when they get 380, which would be August 2008. However, Singapore might fly between Hong Kong and San Francisco before that.

I think the A380 is is going to be as big a flop for Airbus, as the Edsel was for Ford! While the A380 is capable of landing at most major airports, there are only a small few that it can safely depart from. (loaded anyway)

This argument has been done to death on almost all aviation forums. I think that the fact that there are any orders at all for the plane proves that it will be a useful asset to airlines.

The A380 can take off fully loaded in about the same space as a 747 takes up...So yeah...

An A380 at MTOW needs 18 ft more runway for take off than a MTOW 747, so they can basically operate out of the same places......

I thought the worst concerns for the airports was the industry standard 90 minute turnaround for off-loading and re-loading.....that can be lots of people and their belongings to move.........

Singapore seem happy Sydney will be able to cope with the 90min turnarounds. At Changi it's several hours.

Wonderful day guys, I was there for its inaugural commercial flight. She made a FANTASTIC sneak pass, ala USAF Thunderbirds, and you could not even hear her fly past. My neck somehow pointed itself up into the sky (of its own accord) when I saw the familiar Singapore Airlines livery flying past. I have some great photos, so I will be posting photos of it (and other HARS aircraft) soon.
The Channel 7 and Radio 279 helicopters were fighting with each other for airspace too. Channel 7 buzzed the tower, and proceeded to hover over YSSY, cutting off Radio 279's airspace. Thankfully, the Channel 7 Squirrel was not armed for air interdiction.

Congrats An-225,
I saw the 6pm Channel 7 news and they said the pilot decided not to do a flyby because of the weather!
Can't wait for those pics!

True, all i saw was the ground footage and some quick interviews of the passengers who were about to board...but mostly just the aircaft taking off and landing etc...all of the whole 2 mins max the segment took up...
My Specs:Intel Core i5 M430 @ 2.27GHz, 4GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1GB Dedicated, FSX + Acceleration, Real-World RAA Pilot's Certificate
