***Intelligence reports have been confirming that a foreign aircraft will be entering British SimV airspace 25th August  around 19:00 GMT, EST 14:00***

Intel:

Information collected early Thursday morning by SimV pilot Mictheslik flying a classified spy plane, indicates the type to be a Tu-95 “Bear” it is likely to becoming down the West or East coast Heading is thought to be 220-240 flying at 30,000 to 40,000ft and that the enemy has the potential to provide an escort of two Mig 29 fighters but this unlikely, as the enemy is low on fuel and munitions due to the SimV AF Raids over the previous weeks.

...

...

ETA: 19:00 GMT, EST 14:00

Type: Tu-95 “Bear”

Location: West or East coast

Hdg: 220-240 degrees

Alt: 30,000 to 40,000ft

Its mission is to collect information from the SimV server and from this, use Electronic Warfare techniques to shut “www.simviation.com” down for good.

As you can see this situation is critical

Initial Brief

Your mission is to escort the “Bear” out of this airspace, to do this there must be two groups patrolling both East and West coast, when one group has spotted the “Bear” they must signal the other group to formate with them on the “Bear”, intelligence also says that the pilots are poorly trained and are not willing to put up a fight therefore with many SimV fighters armed to the the “Bear” will head home not being able to accomplish its mission.

Communiaction:

Codewords:

The code words so the “Bear” does not know what are planes are, as they will be able to listen into the communications. (Codewords are just a bit of fun, I’ve kept it to the phonetic alphabet to keep it simple)

Bear Spotted: “Tango” (given with with target direction)

Mig 29 Spotted: “Golf”  (given with with target direction)

Form on SimV Sqdn 1: “Bravo”-----------------(Only given by Sqdn CO)

Form on SimV Sqdn 2: “Whisky”---------------(Only given by sqdn CO)

Mission accomplished: “Zulu”---------------(Only given by sqdn CO)

All Return to base: “Foxtrot”---------------(Only given by sqdn CO)

Aircraft:

You may fly your own payware aircraft but please swap to these first

(Preferably with an Air-to-Air load)

The Tu-95 “Bear”:

Copy and Paste this into a search on Avsim: TUPOLEV TU-95MS “Bear”

There should only be one hit it two Tu-95 bears appear download the one with 4 photos attached

Squadrons:

There will be to squadrons, simply these will be called one and two

Map and Zones:

The two lines are the known paths that the “Bear” could take

...

Brief:

You are to meet at Leuchars EGQL (Blue Circle) at 18:10 GTM, EST 13:10 on the SimV server and to from up into your sections at opposite ends of runway 9/27.

One squadron at 27

Two squadron at 9

One squadron will take off first in pairs, followed by Two squadron…

One Squadron is to be at the West coast Patrol Zone (Represented by the Westward Yellow Box) at 19:00

Two Squadron is to be at the East coast Patrol Zone (Represented by the Eastward Yellow Box) at 19:00

You will be dispersed in the patrol zone in the formation or flights your squadron CO wants…And from then on its just keep your eyes open!

Your mission is to escort the “Bear” out of this airspace (Green)
You can make contact with the “Bear”

Please PM me if you want to take part so I can allocate you to your squadron, CO will be chosen closer to the date.

In the spirit of the SimV community and the multiplayer server that is currently being way under-utilized, you have my interest.  I am not much on flying the military aircraft anymore, but if I can use my Panavia Tornado, I would be favorably inclined to join you.

Will we be using TS, or is just the multi-player chat window sufficient?

Another thing to consider is air-to-air refueling.  Is there a way we want to simulate this, or no?  I mean, depending on how long we are up, those jets can get pretty thirsty after awhile.  (I accidently ran out of fuel in my Tornado the last time I was flying with it.  Undecided Grin)

Anyway, you can tentatively put me down for this little mission.  Let's see what we can do, ne?  Wink

My comment was to bump the thread back up and get more interest.....I'm helping a bit with this, in fact I discovered that the bear was coming in the first place (read the mission Wink), I also got the top secret photos of the Mig29s Cheesy

Why does it matter exactly? This is a simulated game therefore reality isn't important Roll Eyes

When you get into the arena of "more plausible enemy" or "more imminent enemy"  based on contemporary world geoPOLITICS (ahem)...... you start to raise the possibility here of getting some people upset and ending up starting a political discussion and or a flame war.

And the very word "enemy" is a loaded one, ripe for misunderstanding and problems in this context.  If I were a SimV member from certain countries, I and my countrymen and women might not see County X (fill in the blank) as a current "plausible enemy".  There are SimV member participating here from all over the world.

At least the "Soviet" concept which was used to start this idea at this point plays more into the line of "history".  Maybe it is best to keep this kind of multiplayer "mission" to fantasy or historical.  Let's not start World War III here on SimV.  Wink

I don't know if there is an add-on for actual air-to-air refueling, but I was thinking we could emulate it.  That is, we could have someone on station in a tanker flaying a set pattern, have the jets fly up within a certain distance and hold formation with the tanker until the tanker driver gives the OK, then manually re-fill the fuel tanks and be off.

If we are simulating a scramble in response to an airspace incursion, you better believe we would be using a lot of afterburner and a lot of fuel.  That being the case, those fighters are not going to stay up in the air for very long without some support.  Heck, I would be willing to fly a fuel tanker if we have an add-on somewhere I could download.  Maybe I will look for one today.  Wink

Oh, and about using Panavia Tornados, that would be very, very in form if we are supposed to be British forces doing the intercepting. Wink

I thought the fact that anyone actually wanted to do surveillance on England nowadays was fantasy.  Grin Wink

Well, it sure sounds like a scramble.  We are definitely not already on patrol.  Look at the instructions:
