I got the demo of 3ds max 7, then when it ran out i got the demo of version 9, and I think it absolutely rocks. But I just cant afford over a thousand pounds for a peice of software. I dont want to get it for free, illegally, just not for the full price tag. Is there a student version or "light" version or something?

IF you are a full time student of a qualified institution of higher learning  (Simviation School of Flightsim Design does NOT, unfortunately, qualify, neither does Mrs. Tate's Finishing School for Unruly SimVionauts), an 'academic'  version is available.

You would have to contact either Autodesk/Discreet directly, or your local distributor.  Also, your own educational institution may be able to arrange the purchase.

Good luck.

Also, if you're modelling for Flight SIm, DO NOT GET 3DMax9.  The FS-X tools do NOT work with MAx9.

I think it would be best if I get my school to do the dirty work and buy it. I need it to do my coursework next year in electronics, of course  Wink
