Are the "Congratulations, You've selected to recieve a free...." ads really nessesary? (Almost as bad as the "mosquito" one)Nothing ruins a quiet evening of looking through downloads faster than that. Or am I alone in this thought? Huh

It's quite annoying, agreed, but I'm afraid your title says it all... we have to get funds from somewhere. I'm afraid you'll have to 'grin and bear it'.

You can easily ignore such ads ... IMHO they are fairly harmless ....

We do have a NO AUDIBLE ADS policy & all reprts of audible ads are dealt with immediately. -- Thye creep in sometimes as multiple agencies get default ads.

Our policy is about non invasiveness

No Spyware
No non action Sound Ads

& as always - listen to & value feedback! Smiley

To add to Pete's comments........

And you CAN help support the site through a membership.  It is not all that expensive....... cheaper than or at least equal to most average payware (but far cheaper than some like the PMDG 747, Ground Environment Pro, etc.).  The more cash flow this site has......... the more "stuff" that Pete can accomplish here.

The banner ads are a small price to pay for the awesome CONTENT that resides on this rather VAST website.  Take some time to explore what is actually here (via site map) and you'll relize what an undertaking this place actually IS.

Think of SimV sort of like an aviation club that you belong to .......... with the members spread out worldwide and meetings happening 24/7.  Maybe paying some club dues are not out of line for those that can afford it?  For those that really can't afford it,........ Pete already offers "club membership scholarships" (ie. - the free access).

There is a saying in America that "Freedom isn't free."   Well...... "Bandwidth isn't free" either.

I hope this helps put this in perspective.

best,

.......................john

Please, don't misunderstand. I wasn't suggesting doing away with all ads, just the ones that use audible messeges. But as Pete explained, a no "audibles" polocy is already in place, sooooo... yeah. Thanks for taking the time to read our comments!
