Is anyone interested in our own GA flying club? This is just an idea. We could have a section right here on the forums. I would be incharge of all the operations for the club. Smiley

Real, or in the sim?, because I'm fear that most members live to far apart to make it a real flying club, because I live in the USA, Bjorn in Germany, Fozzer in England, Alsonx (sorry if I misspelled your name) in Peru, see the problem with a real GA club a few oceans and mountains are in the way Tongue, now a sim flying club is a good idea Smiley

me=Australia, nah I think a SimV GA flying club in the sim is a really good idea. Are you thinking about FSX multiplayer? Fingers cross its FSX multiplayer. Cheesy. We could have our own airfield and someone could do some repaints of our fav GA aircraft and we could have fly-away weekends. It would be a great place for people wanting to be an instructor as they could teach students about flying. Just some of the ideas I had, hope this helped as it sounds like a really good idea! Grin

Hi,

Just some questions. How will this flying club be organized? Will there be online events, a regularly updated hoplist, restrictions to aircraft being used, a stimulation to stay in the club and keep flying (aircraft rental, making money on aircraft you own), a pirep system to keep track of your flights and so on?

Crash Wink

Mostly everything that crash said. I shall see to start up a website on Freewebs. But this isn't a VA. This is just a club for dedicated GA flyers to meet have fun and have hanger talk. Multi player will be integrated into this in the form of tours and flights. Aircraft restrictions are Props of your choice. No military aircraft.

I am still thinking about all of this. When this club is out i might need a few people to help me manage and run this entire club. I will only accept the people who are serious about GA flying. Smiley Wink

I will try to talk to people about this. Cheesy

This sounds like a great idea. Like I said before we could have a repainter to paint our fav GA aircraft into the clubs colours or our personal preferance! I will be happy to join the club! My aircraft preferances are either the Cirrus SR20, New Piper Archer III, Cessna 182 or Beechcraft Bonanza G36.

I haven't thought about repainting aircraft yet. But remember this isn't a VA so repainting isn't necessary. IMO your plane is unique. As a GA pilot your plane should be your own. Personalise it with your own colors but i don't think I'll do club colors. Wink

Great idea A1.
Let me know if you need a hand with the web site, it's what I do best.
I can also build you a back end database that feeds the pages as well.

I also have a hosting package sitting around waiting to be used that's all paid up, rather than a free web hosting co that puts banners everywhere.

Beechcraft Baron and Cessna 182 are GA aircraft and would fit nicely in a flying club. On the other hand a privately owned Airbus A380 is also considered a GA aircraft........

This sounds like a very good idea, i think that each person should have one aircraft to start with and the links to them should be provided on here, so that we all can download them so they are visible in the sim Wink

OK. From this point the club will be in an experimental stage. So if the club works out with no problems then i'll keep doing it. If it doesn't work out then don't be surprised if i close it down. As i said before this was just an idea. Wink

OOOOOOOOO this looks like a great idea but I think it would be appropriate if we waited until the SimV airport is released to start this club. That way it will be more exciting with two new additions to SimV rather that one at a time.  Wink

Fine. Just thinking about all the stuff. On second though the club might be nothing but a place for people to fly. I don't really have much to offer. SO i am thinking about abandoning it. Sad I'll try not to though.

Still a good idea though A1.
Even if a general web site had a list of dates/times to get together to fly and then post some screenies of the flight.

Don't abandon it my friend, start small and build up from there.

the flying club should just be a set time where people can meet and fly, you could use it to promote the various tours and airshows that take place here, if we can get more people to attend the tours and airshows then its better for all of us Smiley

if you dont want to take this forward a1, i might (might being a keyword) try and assemble my crack squad of pilots chums to try and get this going and see if it works

I am sorry but I'll have to pull the plug on this club. It seems somethings have gone up and I don't have time to be doing all of this planning about these things. I am sorry for all who really wanted this. As i have said before I wouldn't think that this would go really far.

Sorry to hear that A1.
I'd say there's enough of us here to get something going.

Give me thoughts on what we want to see first and I'll knock some pages with a database back end on them.

I've already got some hosting space, so we can host there.
