I recently started playing CFS3 again after a long absence, and got hold of the Just Flight BoB expansion very cheap from ebay. Following advice given in other forums I did a clean re-install of CFS3 then installed BoB before installing Firepower. Both seem to be working, apart from of course the Firepower effects.xml has overwritten the BoB effects. So, for example, when flying BoB aircraft and my engine catches fire, there is no visible fire effect on the aircraft itself.

It's a long shot I know but I wondered if anyone has a merged effects.xml which correctly comprises the effects of Firepower with the BoB effects ? If you do, I'd be very grateful if you could send me a copy. Email address is in my profile.

Another slight difficulty I've had is that Groundcrews searchlights are also clashing with the BoB searchlights, probably due to some files having the same name. So far it hasn't caused any crashes but I do get an annoying message stating 'UnitData model 'searchlight' already used !' every time I start CFS3.

The easiest thing to do would be to uninstall GC's searchlights, however, If possible I'd like to remove the BoB searchlights and replace them in missions with the GC searchlights using the mission editor, since they do look better, IMO. I'm just not sure what files to remove and if that may cause even more problems. After having a poke around I'm suspecting that BoB's searchlights are scenery related while GC's searchlights are definitely vehicles. Has anyone encountered this before and found a way around it ?

The Firepower forum is a little dead these days, but a seperate install sounds like the simplest solution. I'll give it a go.
