Two questions about the ground offensive and HQ change and an explanation of my style of play:

1)      What advantage is there to incorporating the ground war option—that is, what do I gain buy beginning an offensive?
2)      What advantage to changing headquarters?

I’m fairly new to this.  I spent the first few months practicing weapons delivery techniques and trying out different aircraft, but began a Fortress Europa campaign two months ago and just completed it a couple of nights back.  I am an old FS pilot, going way back to the green on black 2-D days (anyone else remember the bi-plane dog fight in those early FS releases?) and upgrading about every second release.  This is my first CFS.

My one campaign experience:

My Fortress Europa campaign took 104 missions before Berlin fell and the axis surrendered, and I never launched a ground offensive, nor changed headquarters.  That experience was almost entirely limited to the channel and to France, where I flew the same Typhoon throughout (the upgraded version seemed to have a soft belly and so took too much damage, and I am better with it than a Spitfire or any of the more modern aircraft) over flat coastal as well as well as mountainous forest regions.  Did I miss any adventure or miss out on some added challenge by not including the ground offensive?

I am not sure if ending the war earlier or prolonging it is of any value to me.  I simply enjoyed the missions.  To use that 104 mission figure as a baseline, I should add that I saved every successful mission so that my record was 104 successful missions, no crashes, no failures (that means there were at least as many missions which I did not save).  Furthermore, except when enemy aircraft were in the area, I automatically depress SHIFT+J after each warhead release, and use unlimited ammo option for guns, so I racked up a ton of points not otherwise possible by insuring my favorite targets were utterly wiped out, and trolling for enemy fighters.

Thanks for any suggestions in this area, and I intend to apply them as appropriate in my re-run as a Yank.
