This is not meant to offend our european members but is rather an issue that has festered for a while and has recently come to a head.
It seems that the european safety agency has decided to raise its fees for aircraft certification. This has caused Boeing to cancel the certification process for the 787-3 short range Dreamliner. They pointed out that the Federal Aviation Administration is doing all the certification work for the aircraft.
The European safety agency would charge Boeing the same amount to validate that U.S. certification even though they would not have to do any work.
Last month, FAA administrators warned that the new fees could jeopardize a bilateral agreement between Europe and the U.S., an agreement that has been more than three years in the works. In a speech to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Federal Aviation Administrator Marion Blakey said the new fee "flies in the face of actual cost."

Alas the EAA is run by people who hate planes or so it seems. Did you know in Europe now to insure a flying B-17 costs the same as a 747 thanks to these idiots
The EAA is out to destroy aviation in Europe....
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

I think you mean EASA
(European Aviation Safety Agency)
Not the EAA
(Experimental Aircraft Association)

Simviation paranoia at its best!
No one is out there to destroy anything - at least not by purpose.

There's another type-o.
And no, I don't look at them because I couldn't care less.
You can't do anything about it anyways, so why should you waste your energy worrying?
From what I've read it was no big deal, because the 787-3 doesn't have any orders from european airlines anyways.
(And about that B-17: I don't need to see it flying.)

A perfect candidate for a job as a bureaucrat. The EASA is crying out for people like you.

Do you actually care about aviation at all? All I can recall seeing you doing is saying whatever plane (real, not screenshots) is featured is ugly...

Björn is very much like me in this respect. He has one true love....... the Bf-109
The Fw-190 was sooooooo much better and one of the few German planes I really like
However we all know what my true love is

Yes, but I don't like everything that has wings.

If I think it's ugly, I'll say it's ugly.
Ozzmeister, you forgot the sexiest of them all - the Do-328.
