how to fill out a form that is in PDF file and must be sent on email? I hate PDF. How do you edit a PDF file or copy and paste its contents as its appears onto something which can allow me to type?

Thanks

Hi Ben. I'm not sure this is possible. I think the idea is to print the form, fill it in by hand & send it by snail mail.

Some pdf forms you can fill in and click to send them.
If not, you'll have to print, scan and email.

Where is this form Ben? Got a link?

It's possible to fill in some PDF forms online. Here's some samples. http://www.quask.com/common/samples_job_application.asp

Hi....Open the pdf file...do "edit" then "copy file to clipboard". It's just a matter then of "pasting" it into your word processor .....Wordpad will do....and typing whatever you want into the relevant areas........

Simple enough.... if your computing skills are up to it that is......commoner Wink

Another way would be to paste it into Photoshop or whatever you use and type into it from there...save as a .jpg file after flattening the image...... Wink

Sorry. That doesn't work. I followed your instructions & all I get is a load of mumbo-jumbo like this:

...

Even if it worked it's not clear how you would sign it using the computer. Ben mailed me the form & we came to the conclusion that the person responsible for it has no idea of what he's doing.

Dr. Oz to the rescue. Go to http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads and then download both Foxit Reader (freeware and MUCH smaller, faster and better than Adobe). Then also download Foxit PDF Editor and you can read and/or edit PDFs to your hearts content Wink

That sounds a useful piece of kit but it still doesn't solve the problem of signing the completed form.

It works in PSP but I don't really see how that helps. The form is intended for printing & filling out manually.

Yes, Commoner I tried that. Like Doug said it came out all weird.

Mark - if I download that can I open up Adobe in it to read and edit?

I tried it & it does work. Foxit PDF Editor appears to be a fully functional evaluation version. I can't believe that you need to go to all that trouble to fill in a simple form & I still can't figure out how you're supposed to sign it. By the time you've downloaded the files, installed the software & figured out how to use it you could have printed out that form, filled it in with an old-fashioned pen & walked into town to post it. All you need is an address to send it to.

Thanks Doug and Mark. Mad with revision here - that's why I haven't had much time.  I will download it later on and will report back.

I have a signature already done and stored on my computer for when I wanted to add it to things. Even still it seems pretty crazy to have to do that.

I still think it's a manual form. My advice is to get an address & send it by snail mail.

If you decide to ignore my advice I would think very carefully before using that signature. It would be so easy for anyone else to copy it & steal your identity. Leave that part of the form blank.

Most large companys require to have an electronic copy of your sig. I say keep a copy on your pc, but run a fancy firewall. Betters your chances. Thats what I do. Just copy/paste the sig. It's the best way. it's the only way (without scanner, Photshop, etc.)
