I performed a restart on my computer, it had been on all day and was getting slow. Upon restart, I went to use Firefox and all my bookmarks are gone along with what I had put on the task bar, however all my cookies still worked i.e always logged in to SimV when I come to the forums. Has anyone any idea what has happened??

Tell me what you did to quickly correct it, Matt....?

I've never had this happen but there is no need to load all of the bookmarks manually.

Fx 2.x stores 5 days of bookmark backup files in Profile\bookmarkbackups.  Just copy the last dated one into your profile and rename it bookmarks.html.

If you type in Firefox lost bookmarks into the www, then a million people will have you doing different things. I found a very quick and easy solution deep in the Firefox website.

This the way I did it. Webb's way would also work and as he says, Firefox makes bookmark backups every 5 days.

Firefox keeps its backups in a hidden folder. To reveal hidden folders, first click Start>>Control Panel. Double-click Folder Options. Select the View tab. Under "Hidden files and folders," select "Show hidden files and folders." Then click OK.

Open Firefox and click Bookmarks>>Manage Bookmarks. Click File>>Import. Under "Import Bookmarks from," select From File. You'll be prompted for the location of the backups. They are saved in the following location:
C:\Documents and Settings\NAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\ Profiles

Note that "NAME" will be your Windows account name. You'll see a folder with a nonsense name (your Firefox profile). Open it and find the backups in the Bookmarkbackups folder.

Hope this helps
