Now I know this question has been asked about a trillion times but I believe that it's a good time for an update. I personally still like FS2004.  Smiley

And they both yielded different results. This one will be the third one to really see which one people like.  Smiley

Hello Jake...!

I am always fascinated with the most recent results each time, after regularly (daily) browsing the FSX Forum (from a vast distance!) and noting all the grief, aggravation, flaming, Members disappearing, arse-licking, you name it, etc, etc, since FSX Sim was first released, and wondering just how many folks have got fed-up with endlessly modifying their fsx config, .air files, etc, in the vain hope that the Sim will perform on their Comp system as fantastically as FS 2002/2004 does/did...Wink...!

Paul.... Wink...!

Latest results?:..... Roll Eyes.... Wink.... Grin....!

I still say that whatever was done to make FSX a different and somewhat better sim, has made its hardware requests WAY overexaggerated. If one puts its details all and all similar to FS9 will fall from an average of 40 fps (FS9) to an average of 10 fps (FSX) on the very same hardware.

One can only ask himself why.

And then there's the odd one that gets angry when I call it "the cross" and compare it to FS2000 under the innovation-against-performances profile. Roll Eyes

Who should get angry should be the users at large, and not against me. IMNSHO. Angry

FS9 for me.

Since I never bothered to buy FSX I really can't compare the two sims on my PC. But reading the threads in the FSX forum I don't think FSX will run very well. So I'll stick with FS9. Which is still good enough for me and will be for the future.

Well i like fs9 because my pc can run it.I think this is the main reason. FSX its cool with wonderfull graphs and all that, but hey! we mortals can't spend $1000 or more in a machine everytime an fs cames out, and i think there are really good adss to make fs9 relly good. But like someone already said, make this question again, in one or two years from now.
But is interesting to see this opinions-GOOD JOB on posting them.

I've always agreed that the improvements in FSX aren't proportionate to the hardware upgrade needed... and would never suggest that someone upgrade just for FSX (cause, right now, it aint worth the money), unless your budget allows.

Now.. if you DO have the hardware to run it, there's no comparison.. FSX is in another league.

Based on the demo for FSX and my current install of FS9, I have to say fs9 but my interest in flight Sims are based on building a cockpit. With the functionality of my pit and wanting to keep frame rates high plus costs low ,fs9 is a no brainer.  My budget will not allow a new cutting edge PC which would run fsx.

Also there are more add-ons for 9 and part of the fun for me is customizing the Sim.

FS2004 because my machine runs it pretty well. I do get stutters and lock-ups, something I didn't get before the spyware and virus clean-up of late February. A new hard drive and an OEM version of Windows is in the offing to hopefully put and end to my troubles.

I agree with Fozzer - I'd rather be flying than fiddling with config files all of the time. I don't mind occasional tweaks or having to follow a slider setup guide (since someone put good time into creating it) but I guess everyone's limits are different which I respect. I had finally reached mine with FSX and went back to FS2004. Still lots of good aircraft to try out there...
