its a bit plain (excuse the pun) and generic. i would not have though that introducing a new livery at this time would make great fincancial sense for them. but thats why im an engineer, not an accountant.

just read on another forum that that a/c is on a tour showing off the new livery...empty. so, they have just emerged from bankrupsy, created a new livery and then flown an empty plane to eleven destinations (9 in the usa, 1 in the uk and 1 in carribean). it seems a bit of a waste of money to me.

They're rebranding. I don't know what went into their decision, but I did hear they wanted to emerge from bankrupcy as a new - different airline.
....time will tell.

yeh i understand the rebranding, its just i would have thought there would have been a more cost effective way of doing it than flying an empty plane all over the world. think about it, how many 'average joe' passengers do you think take interest in the plane or what colours its decorated in before stepping onboard. not a lot is my guess. a few flashy tv ads and a catchy slogan would be better imo.

I do not like it either. It is to plain and the tail does no look right. They should just stick with their current colors.

From a distance it will look a lot like Air Canada's old scheme.

I'm probably going to get kicked out of SimV, but I kinda like it. I don't know about the whole promo flight thing, but I don't mind seeing new colors on airiliners. I still miss the old stripes.

I liked delta's late 90's early 00's paint scheme personally.
Also people need to remember elaborate schemes are on the way out because they are heavy so not good for fuel, expensive to paint to begin with and expensive to keep up with repaints.

Its not really as bad as what some airlines have came up with. But really should have stuck to the wavy gravy. Just seems like emerging from bankrupcy then spending the money to repaint all the aircraft is kind of a waist. Wavy Gravy hasnt even been around that long to begin with, in fact theres still a few aircraft in the older scheme then that. It will just take some getting used to I guess. If I can come across it again I found a place where someone had edited this new scheme to most of the fleet. Looks pretty sharp on a 737-800 but anything bigger then that it begins to look to plain and out of proportion

I'll never understand airline management.
the worker bees have to ask the question...
Why are we repainting the fleet for the 2nd or 3rd time in a decade when we are just getting out of bankruptcy? ! ?
I guess blowing a majority of the profits on MGMT bonuses wasnt enough of a waste of cash - my advice to you guys longing for wealth... become an airline manager... its the only line of work where you can drive a company straight into a smoking hole in the ground and STILL get a multi million dollar bonus at the end of the year.
Whatever Delta

Its growing on me. I first saw it a few weeks ago after someone working on a commercial shoot posted it on Flickr. I put the link on Jetphotos, then someone put it on Anet....anyway, I kind of like it. Its simplistic. I really like the new branding. As for the expense of creating a new livery, the only expense incured is paying the designers. All aircraft have to be repainted every few years. So, instead of painting them in the old one, they simply put the new one on. The tour may be a little costly, but for its good for advertising and boosting employee moral.
A side note. The new livery will have the undercarriage painted versus the previous polished metal. While it will add some weight, I have read they did that to prepare for future composite-fuselage airliners. The Delta Dreamliners are coming!!!!

To be fair its also those managers who have brought the company through and out of bankruptcy when there was a high possibility of the company completely closing down.
I dont like them, I dont like the money they get but they do in general, do a tough job. It is those guys that keep pilots like yourself in a job. I dont think its fair they get big payouts when other employees get forced into pay cuts. I think they should be the first to lead by example and take a cut. They are the ones who can most afford it.
