The freeware (but abandoned) glass cockpit software FreeFD is still in use by many people.  One of the functions it has is to display the famous "magenta line" on the ND emulation of its Boeing display.  To do this it comes with a navdata file that contains waypoints, VORs, airports, frequencies and so on.

UNFORTUNATELY, this database is way WAY out of date.  The existing stuff is likely from about 2004 or so.  And I have no idea if it was even current or complete then.

I am not a database person, and cannot tell what FORMAT this navdata file is in.  I am hoping that someone can undertake getting the current AIRAC cycle database converted into one that is compatible with the FreeFD program (same as the existing format)?

Any takers out there?  There would be a LOT of people still using FreeFD that would appreciate the help greatly, including ME.

best,

............john

John-

Send me the database file, and I will take a look, and see if I can do anything with it.  This could end up requiring multiple people to work together to compile it, and I might be ablet o help out with it.

tunatuk,

Thanks for the offer.  I tried to send you an email with the files attached to your address listed here in SimV under your profile out of my personal email account (not via SimV) .... but I got a "permanant fatal error" bounce message.

PM me with an email address and I'll get the zipped database files off to you.

And THANKS again.

best,

.....john
