Does anyone else here use an addon router. I find their software very hard to follow and the configuration of opening ports impossible. I have followed the tutorial but this doesnt follow in the addon configuration software. I am still sure how to configure it so i am not the detriment of other multiplayers. If anyone knows how to open ports in Addon i will be eternally grateful. Thanks

Thanks Fozzer, i googled it as well but all topics i found related to actually getting a wireless connection, which isnt my issue, my issue resides with opening ports. I cant find a tutorial anywhere on how to do this.

You can't dismiss everyone who is using a router. Problem is that somehow the rule of opening ports is not followed by everyone. Some of them don't know about it or don't know how to do it. Some of them aren't even aware they are using a router. The only thing you can do about it is to have a warning in every announcement of a flight that people have to open their ports.

In there lays another problem, not everybody reads the posts in this forum. Hence the constant asking of 'where are you ' and 'where are we going'.

Possible solution? A password sytem that can only be accessed by reading certain posts that again tells people to open their ports. It will not prevent it completely but it'll help.

Concordepilot, you seem to think i want to be irritating and want to cause all you people without routers problems. This is not the case however. I have no choice to use a router as we have two pcs and one internet connection. The addon software is crap to put it lightly and i am currently trying to get it to work but the correct screens dont exist in ADDON. I was simply wondering if someone knew how to do the opening ports thing.

Hope it works...Wink...!

As with most things, if you know the Manufacturer and the Type No, a Google search will often find what you are looking for....

I got the link off the Maplin site for "Addon Modem/Routers"...!

I use Linksys (no choice about using a router, as I share a single broadband connection with several other people), and to configure ports, all I have to do is connect to it with my browser (entering my computer's IP does the trick), enter the password, and there are a bunch of utility pages, including one for ports.
I can only assume that Addon routers have a similar utility, and that you've tried it...?

Perhaps the easiest way is to get rid of all the "Other People", throw the Router in the 'bin, and just plug a cheapie Modem straight into the 'Phone socket... Roll Eyes...!

...'s what I would do... Tongue...!

LOL... Grin...!

Like rottydaddy, I have a set of utility pages that come up when I type in the IP of the wired network DSL modem (Actiontek) in my browser's address bar.  Setting up ports and such is right there as one option.

Have you tried calling your ISP tech support?  Just to be certain I had done it all correctly with my DSL modem, I called my provider to check.  They stepped me through what I needed to do on the phone.... no charge.  We confiermed that I had it all set up correctly.

best,
