I really really understand him

Even Im practicly a newie in desing only 4 a little mediocre palnes done by me  it a hard efford , I was shock after realize that he already made a proyect ,In wich I was working ,No more less than a Mike Stone model Dornier 320 ,of couse is not a matter of compite we all work for free ,to please the rest ,Personaly I never ever fly the models I have done , I rather mikes,(you never feel the taste of your own made food) I was Shock by the word , a dramatic and true words of Mike ,with I Identified because I feel the same , the Hawker was better welcome in other sites than in my own one Simv.

Read this Peopple and think after you complaint of any model ,please see thru the eyes of someone who has given with nothing retribuite ,and why he left , and I feel the same exact way ,I know how hard it is. also is so easy to broke our inspiracy with only 1 coment a bad coment ,that's why I stop making planes for a while ,then I decide to make the Hawk. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HARD ITS TO MAKE ONE IOF THESE THINGS,AND DEAL IN THE EMAIL with people complaining about their own MISTAKES during their instalation, and everyone of the was well response and help ....

as Mike stone Words Please I beg you to read this

Quote:
Some may have already heard this through other sources, but I have retired from aircraft designing.  Actually, this dates back a number of weeks.

Basically, I'm tired.  I'm tired of trying to please the world, and getting nothing for it.

I'm tired of the attacks, not only on my work, but on me personally.

And then there's Microsoft's never ending mission to make the life of independant developers more and more difficult, while they sit back and rake in the rewards of our efforts.

So some of you can now celebrate.  I'm no longer holding a gun to your head and forcing you to use my work.  Well, actually, I never was, but you wouldn't know it the way you all act.

And now I've seen on some of the forums that there are those who are criticizing my retirement.  Some don't seem to buy into my reasons for doing so.  As if I needed their blessing.  So typical.

This site will remain up for the time being as its paid up for a while.  I retain ownership and copyright on all my work and the conditions for use have not changed.  My aircraft are NOT released to the public domain.

To all my many friends and supporters over the years I say thank you.

That's it.  I'm off to more rewarding pastimes.

Let's have a little more apresiations to all of those (EXEPT ME!!) who makes aircraft ,scenerys, to release it for free ,and lets send them in that READ me file is their Email, a letter ,and email of gratitude ,If you have a add-on and you use it sometimes, and you like it ,send him or them a letter and tell them Thank you ...that's the best paid to these people..

Mike has retired from designing several times.  Basically it's burnoout.

Mike is one of those guys that produces models HE likes for HIS enjoyment and many people have liked them.  Can one find "flaws"  in them?  Probably.  FOr a long time he didn't inlcude VCs, and some models didn't go overboard on fancy textures and eye candy.

My opinion? SO WHAT!!!

LIke many other freeware builders, he takes this as a hobby.  He's built everything from airliners, GA aircraft and some whimsical "concept"  planes.  Not everyone wants/needs/lusts after a perfectly modelled (all rivets modeled, not textured) airplane.

For every e-mail./posting praising him, he probably got several more nit picking e-mails/postings.

THere are a few modellers that limit their distribution to a few friends... if they distribute at all!

I liked many of his designs, mainly because they were basic.  The panels were all easy to use, the aircraft flew good, and it didn't kill my fps.  Not to mention, he modeled many aircraft that haven't been modelled by anyone else.

+1

I never really was interested in his model because the simplicity of his designs, but I never bothered to contact him to point out or judge his models. His flight dynamics and panels are great though! Smiley

It's the second oldest story in FS.  Anyone remember a guy named Matt Garry?  Made wonderful aircraft for FS98.  These things were ahead of their time, especially his wonderful Jenny.  Unfortunately, people kept riding him and harassing him about what he should do, and how his work wasn't good enough, and he dropped out.  His site was www.grizzcreek.com.  I miss him and his work, and I'll miss Mike too...   Cry

Well, I prefer Models Designed to Fly weel and give Decent FPS. That's Why I liked Mike's Planes, Plus the Base Textures make repainting a lot easier.but some people want it all.

just goes to show that some people are just pure greedy, want the best for free. i flew a few of mikes GA creations and i realy liked them, especialy on my old system, as his models where easy on the frames and a joy to fly.

its a shame to loose such a great addition to the addon community. but life goes on

thanks mike Cheesy

Cry these where some of my really favorite aircrafts!!! im very sorry ,but i think developers (freeware) should not take so hard user feedback for good or bad, i still have people demanding stuff for the f-5 or people who wants more, they should understand that THIS IS A HOBBY not our lives, we have family, wife, kids, real life jobs ..etc i think its common to have these crisis being one man team developer, when this happens you should turn off the pc and go fishing, again sorry about mike i feel very close to him trough his work and the way he models and he even has a real job in boeing aircft, so hes even making real planes i real life, hes a cool designer and a classic itself my first repaint was on his famous 727 lets show some respect on the man -my two cents

I'm on Mike's side- there's always people out there who nit-pick, want their particular taste's and likes catered to, and have no qualms about telling you. I build for myself. If you like it great - if not then delete it - want to make it better?  read the SDK documentation, spend hours gleening forums and knock yourself out. The problem is we live in a drive-thru society where everyone wants it supersized in the next thiry seconds and hold the onions. He'll be missed- I have flown his stuff since FS200 and have most of his stuff on archive and installed in FSX-
GOOD ON YA MIKE! - you deserve a break today
