i have a great idea...
here it is
ive wanted to build my own plane my whole life
i want to build a 1/2 scale Avro lancaster
here are the specs
Length: 34 ft (10.59 m)
Wingspan: 50 ft (15.54 m)
Height: 9 ft (2.98 m)
Powerplant: 4× Rotax 914 Turobcharged Engines, 115 hp (84.5kW) each (or 912's)
because the fuselage will be so skinny
i will have to make it with 2 person tandem cockpit
(kinda like a piper cub)
i would probably use fabric for covering cause it world be a lot lighter than metal
heres what it might sound like during takeoff and landing(some pics of fm212 included
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vppa-T58KM
well there you have it my great idea
mabey one day there will be 3 lancasters flying
PA474, FM213 and my homebuilt one!!!
also...i would probably build it with the help of my local vintage aircraft association called "Canadian Historical Aircraft Association"

That would be a fun plane... don't think I've ever heard of a 4-engine homebuilt, that would be different.

I did meet a chap a while back who was looking at a similar idea. I'll see if I can find his details... might have lost them in the move however.
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

I wouldn't even try, the time, effort and cost would be far too extreme for a model!

I don't think he's talking about a model.

No reason it couldn't be done although it would take a lot of work & probably cost a small fortune. Scale replica warbirds are quite popular these days although I never understood the attraction myself.

Indeed. I'd much rather own an authentic warbird.

Might have been a lot better off building that wheelbarrow.
