Here's how to make your own clickable thumbnails!

1) Take a big pic... 800 x 600, save it
2) Make a small pic, say 120 x 90 from your big pic, save it.
3) Give each pic a different name, say for example biggie for the big one, and biggiethumb for the small one.
4) Upload both the small and the large pic.
5) Type the following two lines exactly as you see them here into your new thread.
...
6) See the two question marks in the two rows just above? Replace them with the two names of the pics you just uploaded, biggie in the first line and biggiethumb in the second. The thumbnail sized pic is always in the second line.
7) Hit "post", or "preview" first if you want to make sure it's o.k.
8) That's it, you've now created and posted your clickable thumbnail!

Thanx Clipper for the clickable thumbnails info.

Tried to upload in Simvtn the 800x600pixls, but it said was too large, max allowed 10240.?

What would be the count in KBites, the total of tthe two, or only of the small one projected when,

a.  posted to the forum

b.  can this same format be attached to an email, and what will it be in size KBs ?

One value eg. 800 x 600, is a completely different value than the weight of your pic eg. 100k

800 x 600 is the height and width of your pic (in pixels), 100k (in bytes) is the weight.
To upload to SimV, the pic had to be 100k in WEIGHT or less. You can change this value for any pic you wish to upload, with a simple image processor like Irfanview, available here at the V.

So, you can have a pic 800 x 600 and save it as a jpeg at 100k, then re-save the same 800 x 600 pic as 50k for example. The image quality of the 50k pic would be inferior to the 100k pic. The trick is to size your pic to 800 x 600, a standard SimV size, then save it as close to 100k as you can with Irfanview to acheive the best possible quality.

You can find Irfanview here: http://www.simviation.com/fsutilities_gen3.htm about halfway down the page. Look it over and if need be, come back with more questions. We'll straighten you out sooner or later.. Wink

A bit confusing, I tried 800x600 pxls & was found as too big, so forgot these values & got a 98kb & a 10kb, hope this below is acceptable.

Thanks for the help, I use MSPhoto Editor for crop, resize in % & save, have Irfanview too.

PS. can you answer these please?

Poor old Foz out of bed on the wrong side this morning, complaining again.

Last tour, after complaining of VOZ doing FOZ in, for loosing his runways, he made a hasty retreat when the sheep farmer came asking:

"who was that limy, landing crossways & doubled-up loughing complained about my airstrip being only 45' long & 3000' wide"

Hard on some beeing an old fogy.

No offence Paul, and as you are, out of my own heart, a bike fan, click'em once more to cheer u up.

Unfortunately had to give up my classic's hobby when the wife took my garage and made it into a room.

My 73 Norton 600 bits & whole,  my 1923 2& 3/4 hpwr Douglas, and of younger days Sunnbeam S7

Tried to make a "Blog" to put them all in, but failed miserably, can you help Paul?, also how can I make my thumbies go in line instead of up & down? The chap who showed me how, never came back for more help. never mind just discoverd the colons dots

Excuse another old fogey interfering but I thought the idea of using clickable thumbnails was to see the actual thumbnails & not little red crosses.

Unfortunately I can't find the larger images your thumbnails should open.

PS, This is the code for the above thumbnail:

You are very right Hagar, but thought it would be less clutter around if a simple cross was clicable.

But really surprises me why the crosses are clickable on my PC and to some friends, and yet not on yours?

Is it PC system / software compatibility?

Go into your profile (a little button at the top next to the big simviation logo) press modify, enter your password and choose options....then go to your signature and do what you want to it (as long as all pics are under 30Kbs and under 800px wide of course)
