Sig Off Competition : open (Read 4038 times)

O.K. people, fire up your creative side and let it loose! because its time for the first StudioV "Sig off" Competition.

For this you need to create a sig picture about anything you like (it does not have to be used as your personal sig)
Now this can be anything and we mean absolutely anything, it can even be an animated gif if you want Cheesy
But to keep the running fair you need to keep within these guidelines
- no bigger than 30kb (it is a sig afterall)
- no wider than 600 pixels
- no taller that 200 pixels
- all entries must be uploaded to our SimV Server  and posted on this thread as a "reply".
- keep the content clean and appropriate.
- no restrictions on software that can be used
- only .jpg and .gif files
- to make an entry simply post a link or clickable thumbnail in this post

The contest will be open from sunday January 21st and will run for 30 days

Anyone not within these guidelines will be disqualified, drawn, quartered and forced to intake 7 consecutive marmelade enemas...
The winner will claim the lovely Sig-Meister Trophy. ( Plays Michael Jackson tunes through built in speaker)
This is your chance to show us what you can do in a free-for-all style competition so lets see it!
and just remember.......
Complicated does not mean better!
Good luck all and to get you started

Here is an example
...

the winner will be decided by our lovely panel of judges from the StudioV lovely panel pool.

So................ Sig off and lets see what you can do Cheesy Tongue

Interesting...

How do you make gifs?  I'd kind of like to try a gif of a DC-3 taking off or flying by

Hi,
i find that when creating a sig that to get rid of the scrollbars on a forum etc that 400 x 180 or 400 x 200 is the correct size, granted it won't be a big sig buts its enough to keep the file size down etc.

Not as easy as I originally thought....Here's what i've come up with..now if I could only get it under 30k without pulverizing it..

...

I think we should have a lot more creative art contests and themes. If anyone has a suggestion or two, feel free.

Shocked Shocked

Danny, to get it under 30kb and not destroy it, save the files as GIF instead of a JPEG - you still retain the majority of the quality and it can be reduced to a very small size.. Wink

Great entry Katahu....from 2001? was one of my favourite movies of all time.  Smiley They're all great entries. What an awesome artistic exercise you cooked up Donut.

Donut, the reason I bevelled the edges is because the texture I chose was marble. I'm trying to simulate that "cold stone , warm image" feel in the overall look.  Smiley

The only thing I don't like is the text.  I think the font should be something more like what you would see on an FMS or something, and not that color.  Otherwise its great!

Thanks!  Smiley

I agree about the text, but I really wanted to add that line... I played around a lot with different fonts, shapes, colours, etc. and I thought this was the best result. What is an FMS?  Huh

FMS = Flight Management System.  What I mean is it would look good with digital font, like what you see on a digital clock.

no no no its perfect the way it is, a digital font would just look kinda.... well.... crappy IMHO. as their is no kind of digital display in sight on the sig using a digital style font would look out of place

LOL 'fraid not, I want to give the rest of you guys a chance  Wink

Actually, very busy with work, trying to squeeze in learning new photoshop stuff for basic composite screenshots right now. I don't know any 'artistic' techniques... Besides, I change my sig all the time, putting in what would be several hours work for me seems a bit of a waste. I'll content myself by ogling other people's cool stuff.

Okay, so digital font isn't a good idea.  But at least change the color.  To something other than that green.  I just don't think it fits well.
