I've been a member here for several years.  I try to follow the rules, don't flame, be helpful, etc.

I'm not the only one to find the huge signature images annoying but rather than complain I did something about it.  I used Firefox's filtering ability to remove all signature images.

Imagine my surprise when I turned off the filter and found my image replaced with this:

...

After looking around for a half hour or so I still can't find the "bloody FAQ" that might tell me what is so offensive about the image I have used for years.  No one ever emailed me or PM'd me to tell me there was a rule change.  Since I can not guess what rule I may have violated I have had to remove all images and text from my profile.

If you are going to change the rules tell people you are going to change the rules.  An email or PM should be sufficient.

If you are going to have rules you should post them where people can find them.

The replacement image, which I suppose is an attempt at humor, is immature and insulting.  You could just as easily have removed non-complying images or replaced them with text ("This image violates Rule x.xx and has been removed." ).  In addition, it offers no link to the FAQ or other assistance in remedying the non-compliance.

I am not an idiot and I do not appreciate being treated like one.

I was just about to say the same thing, that is Theis's sig. Yab seems to have crossed some wires.

Thank you for the explanation.  I have been able to re-post the sig image with no apparent problem.

As I recall, at one time you wanted all images uploaded to your server.  Is this policy still in effect?  The current one is from photobucket.

And can you give me a link to the FAQ or rules about avatar and sig image sizes?

Yup all images have to be uploaded Jim. Linking from other sites caused loads of problems (my favourite being the thread that took 12 mins to access because of the linked avatar of the user) Wink

Jim,
I understand where you're coming from. My avatar was today replaced by one of the default ones and the text changed without my knowledge. The implication is that either someone has hacked my password (unlikely) or it was done by Those In Power. Whilst not as aggrieved as your good self, I have no idea why it was done, or what prompted it. The avatar was a bit of fun and certainly no more, er, revealing than others on this site that are still there.

Since I had disabled all sig images I had no way of knowing until someone made a comment about my sig.    Now I have disabled all sig images except mine.

If I can figure out how I'll revise the code to disable only the huge images.

Paul the overwritten image problem no longer happens as the system now checks image names to prevent overwrites. I fell victim to that a couple of times when people buggered up my avatar (hence long obscure names for my images) Shocked

Microlight ......... your avatar was replaced with a default one because it was over 10k... your replacement is well below 10k ... ergo the message has obviously been recieved and understood Smiley

Hello Mark... Wink..!

..that's a funny old do...
....my Signature Pic mix-up occurred AFTER this new Forum was in place... Shocked...!

It was strange, as I would imagine that only Folks with access to our profiles and passwords in the New Forum, would be able to modify our Profile Avatars and Signature Pics, etc...... Shocked...!!

...either that, or we have some new, clever, Forum Hackers, ready to make our lives a misery...
...as they do.... Cry...!
...LOL... Cheesy...!

Cheers all...!

Paul... Wink.... Cool....!

P.S. ....Note my Original Pics Name was replaced by a Different Pic using the SAME name!
...strange...!
