Hi guys,

So after getting as much info as possible on the purchase of a Mercedes Benz I finally bought one. Was the initial idea to buy a 190, I left that idea behind after seeing this 200E from 1991. It' bigger, better, had a new paintjob 2 years ago, new tyres, the engine runs as smooth as silk and the interior looks and smells like new. It run a little more than 200.000 km but that's no problem.

Here is the picture:

Hey Crash!
Very nice Car!
Was the Car checked by an institution similar to what we call TÜV in Germany?
I´m asking because there are some issues which are very special occuring on older Models of the W124.
Specially the swivel joint at the Front Axle needs your attention. It´s a known prob that these joints run dry and then suddenly crack. Not funny when this happens while your are driving.
I´m not trying to scare you,but it was one of my 1st thoughts by reading this Thread.
Working almost 12 years at a MB Garage made me sensible for such things.

Hi Arnimon,

Yes the car was checked. As with all cars older than 3 years this car had his APK check as we call it here in Holland. All those cars will have that check every year. All major point for road safety will be checked and if approved it will be registered. Not having your car checked every year is illegal and is punishable by law.

Thanks for the info on the swiveljoints. Will keep it in mind for the next time I have it serviced.
