Hi, just to clarify.  I dont really know anything about building/designing FSX aircraft but I am not computer itlerate either...so please be patient with me...

I downloaded and installed the boeing F18 off of http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military19.htm
Filename is fa-18e_sh.zip

Plane works great. However, for the life of me I cannot figure out how to make this thing fly faster than Mach 1?  It maxes out at mach .9 and I can usually get a ground speed of 500-525 knotts.  Is there a setting in a config file or air file that can be treaked?  Also, note I downloaded the updated air file but it did not work.

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to SimViation..

First of all make a back up of an entire folder of the plane

Download this software
AirEd

here:

http://www.simviation.com/fsutilities_gen2.htm

read the read me file, learn some about how to use it

Unziped and open it, find you BACKUP folder plane ,open the *:air, file

youll see a menu with all this parameters, ,speed, hidraulic, drag, spoilers drag, flaps sustent, hundreds of diferent things to edit avionic, can be  It variates a lot depending wich model it is, you have to find the proper line to edit acording of what you want,so I can't be specific wich line it is ..

its a software to edit everything exept the *.Mld the visual model and VC

Or also if you have the old FS2002 there's a good editor "Aircraft Editor"wich I have used ,and I finded very good, and less complicated..

And about FSX ,I haven't even get a half an idea to do anything with it yet (Its new), But For the life ,I would never change any of its original planes ,wich I find the flight Dinamics the best of it

If you can't find (but its there) I suggest you to use the fs2002 aircraft editor

Also If there anyone here with a better sugestion (a trick one)will be apresiated

Alex

look at the update file in the same block as the original file, it is a link to an airspeed update.

My point is that air update doesnt work for me.  The plane will not exceed mach .9 at any alt.  I tried playing with airED with very odd results.  I just thought someone might have a better air file or know what exactly needs modified for this plane. Graphically it is a nice plane, just doesnt have accurate flight dynamics.

Just a thought. I assume this aircraft uses afterburner. The default key command is Shift + F4. Make sure it's assigned from FS9 Settings/Assignments.
