Just wondering what everyone uses for AI (freeware). I use Pai but after reading several comments elsewere woai seems to have better models, Being that I havent tried it I cant say. I am mainly wondering about GA I usually just use PAI commercial remover then use the Default GA with realistic regestrations But is there another Ga traffic solution thats better. I was going to use the woai then suplement with pai what isnt available by woai yet. then do my ga.

Don't really know about Woai, I find myself perfectly well with PAI. Have all the packages installed and the default liners' traffic removed, and always worked well. the Models aren't superdetailed, but neither they are horrible. Good for AI. Cheesy

I also use Project AI and have all the packages installed. They seem to be releasing them almost on a daily basis. They're starting to release GA packages but I find that Ultimate GA works well. For each of their packages they have repaints for every known real aircraft of that type. That's a lot - plenty of diversity.

Incidentally, is the PAI website down at the moment?

Refuses to connect on this end too. I guess they're having problems. Cry

I think its coming back very soon!

BUT: I recommend you to replace every single PAI-model with an AIA or EvolveAI or FSP model if available. As ashaman said, PAIs are not really detailled but VERY heavy on frames. With other models you have both: good look and good (well at least better) FPS. Try it, you´ll see the difference!

One question Can I look into my aircraft folder and download the appropriate models from ai ardvark then put them into the correct model folder replacing the pai ones. or just use world of ai although I would have to still substitute with some pai airlines that world of ai dont have yet.

Just unzip your Traffic_PAI.bgl file with Traffic Tools, then go into the "Aircraft_PAI" file with text editor and replace the listed PAI planes with the correspondant "title" from the aircraft.cfg of your new planes. Sounds complicated but in fact its really easy once you get to know how it works. There are also many tutorials in these forums which teach you how to do such things.

I've thought of replacing the PAI planes with others, but the real problem in my particular case is that I have all the damn PAI packages installed. There are just too many PAI planes on my FS9, and the dispersive way the AIA, EvolveAI or FSP planes and repaints are published on the net (there is no single site that I know of that holds one or more of them) simply makes me say "Forget it!". Roll Eyes

I would die of old age before having the damn mess sorted out. Wink

WoAI has all the updated models, they look better than the stuff from PAI.  But PAI is showing signs of life once again so maybe they'll start releasing new models.  However many of the PAI packages are several years old now and their flightplans are out of date.  The World of AI stuff is up to date and uses the latest models and paints.

One thing you can do is to replace old PAI traffic packages with updated and newer ones from WoAI.  You'll get updated flightplans and updated models that way without having to replace the models manually.  It ends up being a bit of work but in the end is well worth it.  If you do this you will have to un-install the onld PAI pack to prevent duplication of flighplans/airlines.

Besides WoAI has some nice military packages these days from the folks over at Military AI Works.  (<==Shameless self promotion Smiley )
