Quote:I am moving to Wales. You can drive 390 miles per hour to fast and only get a speeding ticket for 60 pounds. I got one last week here in Holland. 39 Euro for 13 km/h too fast thank you very much.
Crash
I was done in Belgium, 04:00 in the am by a hidden speed camera, on a motorway in the middle of nowhere doing 141 kph in a 120 kph limit (That is the speed limit on the motorway) I was the only car on the road, it was a bank holiday. To cut a long story short, it cost me just short of 900DM (450 Euros.) The initial fine was 300 DM (150 Euros) for 21 kph over on a motorway!!!!!!!. Got the ticket back once back in Germany. As everyone does, I ignored it. Came a reminder. Asked ADAC (German AA and local police what to do. Both said ignore it. Got summons. Asked again, local police said ignore it. Got a second summons with fine doubled and threat of imprisonment. Took advice of lawyer. Told that at that time there where no treaties as far as speeding and parking fines goes and to ignore it. A year later, you will not believe me, but one Saturday morning at 8am the door bell rings. Go to answer it, and I sh#t you not, INTERPOL was standing on my door step. After inviting them in for coffee, it was agreed that the best solution was to nip down the cash point and hand over the readies and take a reciept in exchange not forgetting the third installment of 300DM to cover administration and court costs.. At the time, all that I spoke to in a position of knowledge did not believe that the Belgium authorities had pushed so hard. Personally I think they went to town because it was a German plated car
Matt, who drives through Belgium at a very circumspect seed.
