Dunno if you guys have done much flying up here in Canada (I fly out of CYXX), but all we have is NDB's and NDB approaches! Well, not true, but there are very few airports here in BC with ILS approaches or even VOR approaches.  Typical Canadian gov't , ndb's are cheaper and easier to maintain than vor's.  So consider yourselves lucky!
