I tried installing some of the latest FSX downloads but ran into trouble regarding gauges. Seemed like the downloads were nothing but upgrades of aircraft from previous flight simulator games. Thus when I copied the gauges to the main FSX gauge folder, and when I click on the select aircraft, it gives me a series of messages stating to the effect that the software was from a non supported software such as FS98, then listed the filenames xxxx.GAU. An example of aircraft I tried to load was the "Super Connie" and the "P51 Mustang". Anything I should be doing which I have not?

certain parts of an addon can have certain issues with FSX due to the way FSX now interprets them when compared to FS9. One example is the gauges not showing up in DVC mode for FS9-based addons. Some developers attempt to update their current releases for FSX so that people can enjoy the same addon in FSX. But even skilled developers can run into dead ends.
It shouldn't be any surprise to you that the current addons for FSX are merely updated FS9 addons. making a fresh new addon requires up to at least a couple of months to complete depending the level of detail put into it. Just give the developers more time. Only then will you be able to enjoy FSX addons.
For now, you can think of the current ones as betas for FSX as the developers are trying to learn the inner workings of the new sim.

Thanks for the encouraging report. I must admit that I have thus far imported several FS9 aircraft to FSX but made use of the FSX default panels and sounds with few exceptions whereby I directly copied FS9 guage and sound files.
