I really think it is important that people understand how that was made...

This is the person who made it

Two things;

my computer is a AMD Athlon 64 x2 2ghz with 2gb ram and geforce 7800gt w/512mb ram.
It was edited on my quad xeon mac with final cut studio.

the footage was captured using fraps at 60fps, fullframe. FPS was between 4 and 10 throughout the capturing, but with the feature "no sync" wich doesn't record the frames that doesn't change.

A pro if I ever saw one. Excellent rig for video editing.

Very nice little vid.

But notice that the VC panel was never in shot, there was no AI of any sort inc ground and sea traffic and no AI aircraft even in the airport shot. Also the scenery looks to be at a very sparse level and water looks to be at a pretty low setting (high 1?).

Even then, just flying over the statue in Rio see just how jerky it is. I've found the same in that location.

All of the things I've mentioned, ie what most people want to see in their flightsim, are what the majority of people who have experienced problems with FSX say have brought their sim to its knees.

I'm not trying to get at anyone but I know I'll get abuse and a lecture from the self-appointed small body of FSX thought police here on the forum. Just trying to put an alternative point of view.

PS I am still flying and enjoying FSX but I appreciate there are genuine people out there who are having problems.

No abuse for you..  lol..

But I do wonder why you needed to pull down (and knowingly provoke abuse), even a simple, positive thread ....

OMG Brett. I do not see how I've pulled anything down. All I have done is make some simple observations on the video. I find your comment more destructive than mine as you are the one who has now started the ball rolling aagain.  ???

It's comments like yours that cause the problems, not mine. My comments were directed at the video and the sim, which is what this forum is supposed to be about. Your comment was directed at me. Why can't you just leave the personal slant out of it.

If FSX can't survive with such innocuous AND TRUE comments being made about it G*d help it.

No, Roller..

This thread was a simple display of a positive experience. No hardware/software debate.. NO complaining.

YOU.. couldn't stand a few consecutive, positive posts.. even acknowledging yourself that you were digging it up  AGAIN.

All I did was call you on it.

Wowo!!!

I was truly impressed!!
If that is what FSX will be capable of, Hats Off To The Aces Team!!!

And I don't care about all the people bitchin about the first release, it needs to start  someplace!

I am looking forward to see the future of this Sim progress!!! Keep up the good work! It is a long road but eventually, I will be there some day! I am a patient person and can wait for everything that needs to be done, both on my part and the manufactures part!!

Totally impressed! I find NO Reason to keep looking for the negative but more the positive! Glad to see that as it really looked real!!

Great video.....Now I am off to watch that again so I can see what I will be waiting for!!!

Thanks for that Link!!!

" But I do wonder why you needed to pull down (and knowingly provoke abuse), even a simple, positive thread ...."

I did not interpret R.B.'s post as "pulling down" anything. Perhaps we are overlooking the fundamental fact regarding the human factor that before anyone can be impressed that person must be impressionable.

The famous American writer, Truman Capote stated it best, IMO, when asked of all the famous people had met and interviewed, who had impressed him the most: He qualified his response by stating the fact that he was only impressionable during his early years as a cub-reporter; afterwards, as he came to realize what a jaded place the realworld can be, no one -- even though they were more famous and/or powerful -- impressed him.

Mr. Capote then went on to describe the encounter with a relatively mundane character who had impressed him partly due to the fact he was impressionable.

What does this all have to do with this thread?

I was not impressed by the linked FSX video at Youtube. This is not a condemnation of said video, FSX or anyone associated with it. All it means is I was not impressed -- therefore, from my perspective, the video is not "impressive".

P.S. I've made and posted dozens of videos at YouTube and Mydeo.com -- both of realworld and simulated flying.

I think I may be losing my mind.  Some of the responses to these threads are completely unrelated to the thread itself.  I have to use my psychology degree just to interpret some of the off the wall comments being made.  Please stick to the topic at hand.  Todd

My rig is AMD 64 X2 (2.2Ghz) with 3GB RAM and I get nowhere near that kind of performance. Even with the weather turned off and my GT7600 graphics card using 256mb on board with an extra 500mb system RAM I get about 10fps around town and only about 18 in the cruise.

I think you misread his post.. he said the FPS in FSX was between 4 and 10
