Just saw on the local news here......... Sad

..........the only two existing Martin Mars, operated by TimberWest a local logging company, are up for sale..........very sad news on Vancouver Island and for everyone else in range of these massive "flying boat/water bomber" aircraft........they have saved uncounted financial losses with their ability to douse forest fires......... Cry

 Indeed,.....I've seen and photographed them many times, but it seems that we all won't see them around here too much longer.......  Cry
 As I said, there are only two in existence and they are both owned by TimberWest and both on the block !........cryin' shame ........ Cry

Not sure if they will be replaced or not...........this was the first public word that they are on sale......on a side note for you Mark.....do you think I should go to the Y2K project today for the open house and pick up something for you ?

The preliminary report Doug is that they are on the block.....both A/C, spares, the lot......cost over the winter season is what sparks the financial scrutiny......10 mechs on full time preparing for the upcoming fire fighting season cost too much for them to warrant keeping the operation going......... Cry
