...but where do i find the 3ds max 8 plug-in for fsx. Also if possible can someone explain how to convert the .max format to a fsx model.

The Deluxe version of FS-X comes with the SDKs, and it's in the SimObjects SDK.
Instructions, such as they are, do not really exist.
There should be an SDK update "soon" (latest word is on/about Nov 1) with "better" instructions.
