I recently installed FSX and after running it the way it came up with out doing any kind of tweeking my frame rated were the pits 3 to 7. After applying some tweaks here and there I finally get some decent rates in the upper twenties but the ground texture absoluty stinks big time. Granted I do not have a top of the line system but it is not all that bad either 2.3 gig pentium 3 1 meg ram (maxed out) 5700LE 256 meg ram video card two hard drives 1 at 60 gig and one at 80 gig I have FSX and FS20004 on the 60 gig by themselves.
At this point and time I am not impressed. I only hope when I update my system I can get better results.
I hope to get a dual core cpu 3.2 gig windows vista and at least 1 gig ram with room to add at least another gig Sad

Tell us first all of the settings you have, you should be able to put the textures on medium, ground detail and 60CM and a avarage mesh detail with 16M. Turn off all of the effects because those are the heaviest on the GPU.

Hope this helps a bit.

How do you have all the scenery? Try both normal and auto on normal.

I would suggest that you upgrade to at least 2GB of Ram* and 3.4GHz Processor**.

*Most users around here reported better performance when using 2GB of Ram rather than 1GB.

**I'm not certain what type of processor is needed. Some report that dual core performs less than core 2 duo and everyone should know by now that 64bit hardware is not what FSX is optimized for as the market for such hardware is not big enough.

If you're hoping to upgrade, wait until DX10 hardware is out. By then, your savings will have grown and you'll have the latest hardware capable of letting you FSX.

My goof I ment to say MAXED out The system I currently have can not be upgraded in any way the mother board will have to be changed. Something I plan on doing soon but want to do it the right way which means I will need to buy a operating system since you can not change motherboards without re registering windows and since I have the home version you can only put it on one system and the sytem I have now has been out of warranty for some time M$ will not support 3rd party software.
