Why are you being so anti american?  Just because microsoft screwed up london doesnt mean that all americans are stupid and dont understand.   ITs a typical microsoft thing to do, focus on improving certain theings while degrading others, I dont see why it was such a suprise to you that they completes messed up all of Europe.

Its not like they are good at making scenery in the US anyways.  They completely screwed up a lot of major airports, they forgot a stadium or two in houston, and there are many, many, many other errors in FS9, and even thought I dont have (or plan on getting) FSX its probably the same way.

Hi Roger. I can understand your point of view. This may shock you, but I do most of my flying around Croatia. Tongue Granted it's not as populated and popular as the UK, it still kills me to see totally flat plains where mountains and rivers should go. There's really not much that can be done except wait for someone who shares your frustration to create a patch for it. I know you're rather good at sim tweaking, I'm surprised you didn't take the opportunity to create some proper landclass for the area. Wink

Seriously, stop being an ass about it.

We've all got problems with the new FSX, and a lot of us are probably [a bit] frustrated like yourself. But is there really a need for an angry thread like this?
Reporting a problem -- OK!
Being totally obnoxious about it -- not OK.  And why even bother putting on an angry face about a PC game?

Denmark and Copenhagen - Talk about inaccurate! Almost nothing is right. And in FS2004, the largest Scandinavian bridge wasn't even in the game.

So what, I still enjoy flying there. It's just less realistic.

I think you're overreacting, BIG TIME.

Agree 100% I have problems, like not having the performance that I want, unlike many which get 40-50+ frames, I only achieve about 15 average, which is not great. So don't complain, about something that might be Anit-American, there will possibally be a patch out or you will find a scenery upgrade, which may possibally fit your intrest. Smiley

Rollerball, are you forgetting that the FS series [since the very beginning of its franchise] has always been:

1. A testing platform in which computer geeks like the ones in Silicon Valley use to see if the best computer is up to par with technology by simply running FS on it and see the whole alienware-like system crawl on its knees.

2. A primary base for addon developers. Besides, you also seem to be forgetting the addon developers will always make better scenery than Microsoft no matter how hard Microsoft tries to catch up.

Anyways, do you really think that us Americans are NOT suffering? I've known South Florida almost my entire life and I have actually managed to fly over both Miami and Homestead. Heck, I even visited the local air reserve base and Kendall Tamiami Executive. I know how the port of Miami and much of Biscayne bay looks like in real life [both on the ground and from the air]. But in FSX, there are still obviouse errors clearly seen in FSX's version of south florida. Some of these errors are the same ones that I saw back on FS98, FS2000, FS2002, and FS2004.

Because of these errors, I use to get angry just like you. In fact, I was just as pissed as you are right now if you recall. I didn't like how the port of Miami looked nor how isolated KTMB was and how lifeless Homestead looked in FSX.

But then I came to realize the power that addons have over default. Sure, not everyone likes to wait for addons and expect Microsoft to fix everything. But addons are just as crucial to the FS series than what FS default offers. Addons, are the backbone, the lifeline, the very blood of the FS series nowadays. Without them, the FS series will die off into forgetfulness.

What I'm trying to say is, don't complain about something that can easily be modified to suit everyone's tastes. Microsoft gave the FS series an open architecture for a very good reason. If all of the defaults, were way better to the point of you no longer complaining, then there would be no need for addons. No addons, no backbone for the FS series. No backbone, no stable future.

FSX may be a total joke NOW, but I bet you money that it won't be a few years from now. Again, don't ignore the overwhelming power that addons have default. So forget about what should be included as default and start thinking about what YOU can do to make it better to suit YOUR tastes.

I'll post a shot of Durham Tees Valley airport in the morning. That's so comical that it's bound to lighten up the mood of the thread. It's so bad it's hilarious! Grin

It may come as a total surpise to Americans that Germans like to fly around Germany, Australians around Australia and Outer Mongolians around Outer Mongolia.

Uh. I'm Australian and generally fly around North Ameria.

Also what's with the American stuff?

The prog is promoted and sold on the basis that they can do that and have an 'as real as it gets' experience.

No that peice of marketting dosn't apply to fsX.

Oh, Rollerball, post pictures, I may have a fix somewhere.

Thank you for the many kind comments in this thread  ???

I thought we had a rule here on the forum about not being personal if you disagree with someone's point of view. Looks as though some of these conventions are rapidly going out of the window with newer members joining and from some older members who shouild know a whole lot better.

Rollerball, im from The Netherlands, and it  never has been any good in FS. Nor will it ever be, since well, most scenery is autogenerated on real world data and the fact is that, half of the netherlands is pretty flat and below sea level, so that is rather to accurately create.

Fortunately a group of very talented dutch scenery designers are working together to create a freeware scenery wich uses photoreal textures for the whole Netherlands.

Again, patience is the key, and until that time fly somewhere else, so many beautifull spots to find and discover.

Go here TIST and fly east until you hit TNCM, you'll get by some great scenery!

Also visit honolulu, great scenery to be found there too!

Well, I've not been to London, England in the real world.  Having visited there in FS9, and judging by pics of the real item, as well as having shown some family members (who've been there) FS9's representation of it, it appears the default scenery was fairly good.  It just seems difficult to understand why, if things were quite alright in the previous version of FS, how they could be so mucked up this time around, going on the word of someone here who knows the area better than most of us.  I can understand the frustration, especially when the anticipation is there that things are going to be better with the "new & improved version" of whatever it is in life (be it a car, latest gadget or FS).  Claiming addons will cure the problem is one thing, but having a better representation in the older, "obsolete" version of FS by default, just doesn't cut it - if they could get it right then, how come not now?

I would take the standpoint of those who say that it's a foundation for addon developers to build on top of, but can anyone point me to some decent freeware British mesh/landclass/autogen? You bet I could find lots of wonderful scenery for parts of the US, hell, even the Canary Islands, but the UK seems to have been ignored, even on the freeware developer scene (as have a lot of other places).

Now you might say "why don't you just fork out £30 for some mesh for the UK?", but unlike a lot of people here, I don't have the money to pay for countless payware addons. And even if I did, I'd be spending it elsewhere. I don't see why I should have to pay for something just to make my sim as good as it should be. Especially when I have to pay £30 for mesh of the UK, when in comparison, I'd only have to pay around £35-40 for mesh of the entire world, for X-Plane.

Roger does have a point, a valid one, so don't go slating him for it.
